The new Chevy 2020 Chevy Silverado RST slips as it rises. The new truck is lighter than before, but has new features and trim levels. This level of RST settings combines a sporty look with an off-road Z71 package. What is it all about? Let’s dive in to get a detailed look and a detailed review. Although Chevrolet unveiled the 2020 Silverado at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, there is still a slew of things that remain unanswered about the new truck. Among them is the RST trim levels we see for the first time in the aforementioned spy photos.
It’s not a radical change from the other trim Silverado. Optically, the main differentiators are a body color wheelbarrow with narrow gaps in the center beams. The bumpers are also bodies, and the fog lights get small chrome guards that reflect the design of the grill. On the back is the tailgate standard Silverado fare, but an RST badge is added. This special test car also features a 4×4 sticker indicating the RST trim will be available with all-wheel drive.
We’re excited to see if Chevy will include some performance upgrades on the RST. The trim was first introduced on the Tahoe and Suburban, and it stands for “Rally Sports Truck. “On these SUVs, the RST brings some unique options that are not on other trims like a GM Performance exhaust that adds a few horsepower, six-piston Brembo front brake saddle, and magnetorheological suspension. It also adds the option of a 6.2-liter V8, but that engine is already available on the Silverado. It would be natural for Chevy to offer these on the 2020 Chevy Silverado RST, too, giving the trim a bit more performance credibility. Unfortunately, we don’t expect anything completely different mechanically, like the supercharged 5.3-liter V8 found on Chevy’s Silverado Performance Concept.
Available models are WT (Work Truck); Custom; Custom Trail Boss; LT; RST; LT Trail Boss; LTZ; Trail Boss; And High Country. You can currently choose from cabin options that configure a double cabin or crew cab. There will also be six drive combinations of up to 420 hp. A 3.0-liter Duramax straight-line gymnastics diesel is due to be available at a later date. Horsepower ranges from 285 to 420. The standard size of the bed is 79.4 inches, with a shorter bed of 69.9 inches. In terms of design and styling, the latest version of the Chevrolet 2020 Chevy Silverado RST truck served a more bold, more athletic personality along with improved aerodynamics, each model displaying its own unique design and capability. Grille treatments, in particular, are different, serving up a distinctive first picture. The sculptural hood reaches back into the sharply angled windshield and falls back into a backward sloping cabin. A character line ranges from the headlights to the “A ” column, faded and then cut down through the rear door and continued along the side of the bed to the tailgate. In the profile, there are strong fender arches over the rounded wheel fountain. Another lower drawing line runs from the front to the recommended rear wing. Different wheel designs appear on different models.
This model features a central high-plate locking sticker and a Chevrolet embossed signature that is framed by taille edging and the rear bumper has fingers on each side to facilitate access. The bigger picture on first viewing is that it’s a big mother of a truck when it’s actually only 1.5 inches longer (the wheelbase is 3.9 inches longer). Despite expanding the footprint, the new styling shortens the front overhang and avoids interfering with the Wenderadius (which practically corresponds to the old truck).
When you enter the spacious cabin, you notice the balanced symmetry, with user-friendly operating and switchgear. There are real buttons to control volume and select stations the old-fashioned way, with a readable touchscreen for other features, and there are two glove boxes stacked on the right. In the center console, there are several Cupholder with a large storage container and accessories. There is enough connectivity and infotainment. There is a 4G LTE LTE Wi-Fi hotspot with a one-month/3 GB data set.
