2025 Chevy Silverado EV: The automotive industry has been abuzz with the release of electric vehicles (EVs), and the latest addition to this trend is the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV. As the automotive world continues to move towards a more sustainable future, Chevy’s decision to electrify its Silverado is a commendable move.

The Silverado has been a popular pickup truck for many years, but with the introduction of an electric powertrain, it’s expected to bring a new level of performance, efficiency, and environmental consciousness.

Chevrolet’s introduction of the Silverado EV garnered a lot of admiration, including from our publisher Tim Esterdahl, who made a reservation for a Work Truck. He was not the only one, as General Motors CEO Mary Barra reported over 110,000 reservations (with a $100 fee) for the electric Chevy truck. This creates a challenging situation for the automaker.

Given GM’s present EV production rate, it may take a considerable amount of time to satisfy all reservations (assuming all of them become orders). As a result, Esterdahl and other individuals who reserved a Silverado EV might have to wait until 2025 to receive their vehicle.

This raises concerns about who would be willing to wait that long, as well as whether GM may have taken on more than it can handle by producing too many EVs simultaneously.

2025 Chevy Silverado EV Review

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV has a more traditional design compared to the flashy GMC Hummer EV, but they share the same electric powertrain. It has a midgate feature that allows users to fold down the wall between the bed and cab for additional storage space, similar to the Avalanche pickup truck from the early 2000s.

2025 Chevy Silverado EV Refresh

The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is expected to have a fresh new look compared to its predecessors. The electric pickup truck is rumored to have a more aerodynamic design to improve its efficiency. The front of the truck will be adorned with the iconic Chevy bowtie emblem and a prominent grille that will likely be closed off, as the electric powertrain doesn’t require as much cooling as a traditional gas engine.

The headlights and taillights are also expected to feature new LED technology, providing better visibility and energy efficiency.

The body of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is rumored to be made of lightweight materials like aluminum and carbon fiber to reduce weight and increase range. The truck is also expected to come with unique design elements like electric blue accents, which will likely be a nod to its electric powertrain. Overall, the exterior design of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is expected to be modern, sleek, and functional.

2025 Chevy Silverado EV Redesign

The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV has been redesigned with an eye toward performance and functionality. The pickup truck features a bold and muscular exterior that’s sure to turn heads on the road. The midgate design allows users to fold down the wall between the bed and the cab for additional storage space, and the available fixed glass roof gives the interior a spacious and airy feel.

The front end has been updated with a new grille and headlight design, and the overall shape of the truck has been refined for better aerodynamics and performance.

New Chevy Silverado EV

The Silverado EV has two electric motors, unlike the Hummer EV, which can have up to three. Even with two motors, the acceleration performance should still be impressive. The RST trim level, which is the top-spec model, boasts a horsepower rating of at least 664 hp, while the base WT trim level has 510 hp. The truck comes with all-wheel drive and a four-wheel steering system as standard.

The RST model also comes with adaptive air suspension, and buyers can opt for 24-inch wheels. The Trail Boss model is expected to have locking differentials, all-terrain tires, and other features suited for off-road adventures. As soon as we have the opportunity to test drive the Silverado EV, we will update this article with our driving experience.

GM to increase EV production by a significant amount

Reuters reported that Barra assured investors of a significant increase in GM’s EV production. Barra stated that the company plans to manufacture 400,000 EVs in North America between 2022 and 2023, which is a substantial amount. However, this increase in production may not assist with the turnaround time for the Silverado EV.

If the reservations do indeed exceed 100,000, it would imply that 25% of the entire EV output will need to be reserved for Silverados, which does not appear to be achievable. If GM can produce 50,000 Silverado EVs by 2023, only half of the reservations would be satisfied by the conclusion of next year.

If GM manages to increase its production rate to 150,000 units by 2024, the majority, if not all, of the pre-orders for the Silverado may not be delivered until late 2024 or early 2025. This does not consider the possibility of additional orders or dealer shipments. Ford faced similar challenges with the launch of the Ford Bronco, which was not an electric vehicle.

GM has a range of EV models, including the GMC Hummer, Cadillac Lyric, and Chevy Bolt, as well as the forthcoming GMC Sierra EV. While increasing production is necessary, spreading it out across various vehicle production lines may not speed up the release of the Silverado EV to meet demand.

The bottom line on Silverado EV

Although the Silverado EV is impressive, is it worth waiting three more years for? Rivian is already producing electric trucks and SUVs from two different factories, and Ford has begun pre-production on the F-150 Lightning. Furthermore, Tesla is looming with the Cybertruck, despite the numerous setbacks they’ve experienced. It appears that GM is trailing behind these other electric vehicle alternatives.

2025 Chevy Silverado EV Engine Performace

The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is expected to come with a powerful electric powertrain, with dual electric motors providing standard all-wheel drive and up to 664 horsepower. The electric powertrain is expected to provide instant torque, making the truck capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just a few seconds. The truck is also expected to have a towing capacity of up to 10,000 pounds and a payload capacity of up to 1,300 pounds.

The electric powertrain is expected to be powered by a large battery pack, providing up to 400 miles of range per charge. The battery pack is expected to be scalable, allowing drivers to choose from different battery sizes depending on their needs. The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is also expected to come with DC fast-charging technology, which can add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

Towing and Payload Capacity

The Silverado EV will initially be available with two towing capacities: 10,000 pounds for the RST model and 8,000 pounds for the WT. However, Chevrolet has announced that a version capable of towing up to 20,000 pounds will be added to the lineup in the future.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life

The Silverado EV will use the Ultium battery technology from General Motors, which can be expanded to create a battery pack as large as 200 kWh. This will supposedly give the truck a range of up to 400 miles per charge, although the actual range will vary depending on different factors such as towing.

The vehicle will come with DC fast charging capability, and Chevrolet claims that 100 miles of range can be added in just 10 minutes at a public DC charging station.

2025 Chevy Silverado EV Interior

The interior of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is expected to be luxurious and modern, with features that cater to the electric powertrain. The dashboard will feature a large, customizable infotainment screen, providing drivers with all the necessary information about the truck’s performance and range.

The infotainment system is also expected to feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as wireless charging for smartphones.

The seats in the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV are expected to be comfortable and supportive, with premium materials like leather and suede. The cabin will also be spacious, with plenty of legroom and headroom for passengers. The truck is expected to come with a variety of safety features like blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking, providing drivers with peace of mind on the road.

After taking a look inside the fully-equipped RST model of the Silverado EV, we were impressed with the interior. It had a fixed glass roof, two-tone leather upholstery in black and white with red piping, and a passenger area similar in size to a typical Silverado crew cab pickup truck.

The shifter was not mounted on the console but was a column stalk, which allowed for a large storage bin between the dashboard and the center armrest.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The Silverado EV will have a digital dashboard as standard, with an 11.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8.0-inch digital gauge display. The top-level RST will come with a larger 17.0-inch infotainment screen and an 11.0-inch gauge display.

Both screens can be customized to the driver’s preferences, and the climate controls are simple analog knobs mounted on the lower part of the dashboard. Specifics on the infotainment system are not yet available, but we anticipate standard features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with in-dash navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Exterior

Starting with the exterior design, the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is a sight to behold. It has a bold, muscular stance that exudes power and confidence, with sharp angles and aggressive lines that give it a sporty, athletic look. The front grille is a prominent feature, with a bold Chevy emblem at the center and a chrome finish that adds a touch of elegance.

The headlamps are sleek and modern, with a sharp LED design that illuminates the road ahead with crystal-clear clarity. The hood is also impressive, with a sculpted shape that adds depth and dimension to the overall look of the truck.

Moving to the side profile, the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is equally impressive. It has a sleek, aerodynamic shape that reduces wind resistance and enhances fuel efficiency, with a low-slung design that gives it a sporty, modern look. The wheel arches are pronounced, with large, muscular fenders that give the truck a rugged, off-road-ready appearance. The wheels themselves are also impressive, with a range of sizes and designs to choose from, including rugged all-terrain tires and stylish alloy rims.

At the rear of the truck, the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is equally striking. It has a bold, angular design that emphasizes its muscular build, with high-mounted brake light and sharp, modern taillamps that give it a distinctive look.

The tailgate is also impressive, with a sleek, aerodynamic shape that enhances the truck’s overall performance and fuel efficiency. And of course, the truck bed is a key feature, with a durable, weather-resistant design that can handle heavy loads and rugged terrain with ease.

2025 Chevy Silverado EV Color

The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV’s exterior is its range of color options. Chevy offers a wide range of colors to choose from, including classic shades like Black, Summit White, and Satin Steel Metallic, as well as bold, eye-catching options like Red Hot, Cherry Bomb Tintcoat, and Bright Blue Metallic.

And for those who want to add a touch of personal style to their truck, Chevy offers a range of custom paint options, including matte finishes, metallic shades, and even custom graphics and decals.

2025 Chevy Silverado EV Price and Release Date

As of now, there is no official word on the price of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV, but it’s expected to start at around $60,000. This is comparable to other electric pickups in the market, such as the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T.

However, the price can increase significantly based on the trim level, features, and options selected. It’s worth noting that electric vehicles generally have a higher upfront cost but offer significant savings on fuel and maintenance in the long run.

The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is expected to hit the market in late 2024 or early 2025, with initial availability in select markets. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, we can expect the Silverado EV to be a popular option among consumers looking for a capable and efficient pickup truck.

Production: 2025 Chevy Silverado EV

General Motors has announced plans to have over 1 million units of EV capacity in North America by the end of 2025, as stated in a press release. Reuters reports that production of the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq is expected to increase to 25,000 units this year, with GMC Hummer EV production increasing to 21,000 units.

Additionally, the Chevy Bolt is back in production as another EV model after being halted due to a battery recall issue.

GM’s decision to prioritize the Equinox and Blazer EV models before the Silverado EV was confusing to some. Despite increases in production for the Hummer EV and Silverado EV, there are already around 50,000 reservations for the Hummer EV and over 110,000 reservations for the Silverado EV, which means that GM still lags behind demand.

2025 Chevy Silverado EV
