But now, GM is hard at work preparing a track-oriented 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 model. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming sports car so far.
Corvette Stingray C8 itself is a capable track car. Of course, in keeping with the tradition of the Z06, the hotter C8 models will come with some special tweaks to boost performance even further.
Chevrolet Tricks Magnetic Ride Control suspension system is a great choice for track-oriented models. The wider bodywork will likely be used to cover the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires seen on the prototype.
Muscle Cars and Trucks was the first to report that the tires will measure 345/25 ZR 21 at the rear and 275/30 ZR 20 at the front, which should help improve mechanical grip.
Recent spy photos also show the Z06 equipped with a set of lightweight carbon fiber wheels, which are rumored to be tied to the track-oriented Z07 package.
The same prototype seen by Nordschleife also comes with a serious aerodynamic package, including a large rear wing, a sub and a large splitter up front.
These aero elements are not only more extreme than what we’ve seen in the previous Z06, but they’ve been reported as an active unit. It’s also worth noting that these odd entry-level aerodynamic parts are also expected to be part of the Z07 package.
2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Review: Will There Be A 2023 Corvette Z06
Now that the waiting bubble has burst around the mid-engined Corvette, interest in the even more powerful Z06 is growing. The Chevy Corvette Z06 2023 with its odd flat-grip V8 will sound different from any other Vette.
It will also look better than the regular C8, thanks to enlarged fenders, larger air intakes, and dynamically tuned aerodynamics to maximize high-speed downforce and cornering traction.
Along with a unique drivetrain and sophisticated look, the Super Chevy will inherit the best features and technology from the regular model. While we don’t have all the exciting details about the new Z06 yet, here’s what we do know for now.
The first mid-engined Corvette Z06 is expected to go on sale in early 2022 as the 2023 model. This is a traditional racing-inspired version of the standard Vette, complete with bolder styling cues and serious performance.

While the “base” C8 Stingray is a high-performance machine designed to be a full-fledged performer, the mid-engined Corvette platform has greater performance potential. The Z06 will seek to deliver that kind of performance with proposals focused on non-standard track capabilities.
To that end, the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 will return to a naturally-aspirated engine – a big difference from the supercharged V8 Small Block used by the C7 Z06.
These gearshifts are meant to bring the Z06 back to where it came from as a race-focused product, and this direction perfectly embodies the C6 Z06 and 505 hp 7.0 liter V8 LS7.
In comparison, the Chevy Corvette Z06 2023 differs from this formula by having a supercharger that sometimes fails on restart.
2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Powertrain
GM officials expect the Corvette C8 Z06 to be powered by a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter LT6 V8 engine.
The bike will have a 32-valve double overhead camshaft (DOHC) setup and is expected to have a flat crankshaft for moderately high revs, between 8,500 and 9,000 rpm.
Horsepower is expected to be 615 horsepower and torque should be close to 490 lb-ft.
The engine was officially introduced to the C8.R, where it sounded very intense, emitting a very strange scream, almost like a Ferrari. Since then, Chevy has offered glimpses of the much-anticipated new powertrain. Next generation images

Service shifts on the C8 Z06 will be handled by the same eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as the C8 Stingray. Manual transmission will not be offered. Power will be channeled to the rear wheels.
Co-developed with TREMEC, the dual automatic clutch provides lightning-fast shifting and excellent power transfer in the Stingray model, and we have no reason to believe that this will change for the Z06 C8 variant.
This transmission is designed to give the driver the best of both worlds: the vibrant feeling and direct connection associated with the manual as well as the premium ride comfort of the automatic.
The dual paddle de-clutch feature allows the driver to release the clutch by holding both paddles for more manual control, in addition to selecting a specific gear. This allows the drive to make free spins, if and when desired.
2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Chassis
We expect the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 to build on the chassis configuration already capable of the C8 Stingray with an upgraded chassis. Magnetic Ride Control is expected to be standard, while a DSSV damper may be offered as an option for those seeking the ultimate in on-track performance.
Wider wheels and tires will result in greater patch contact to the road. The 20-inch front wheels will be wrapped in 275/30R20 rubber, while the 21-inch rear wheels will be wrapped in 345/25R21 rubber.
Michelin Sport Cup 2 R tires will be offered, although they may not be standard tires. A set of carbon fiber wheels will also be offered, possibly as part of the optional Z07 package.
Improved braking results in more efficient and stable stopping, lap after lap. Carbon ceramic vanes may also appear as an option.
2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Prototype
Although GM hasn’t officially unveiled the Z06, spy photographers regularly snap pictures of prototypes.
The dense camouflage makes it difficult to distinguish the special design features of the C8 Z06, but the same cannot be said for the vehicle it carries. General Motors seems to be comparing the C8 Z06 to the Ferrari 458 and Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
Two premium sports cars have been spotted alongside various Z06 prototypes in recent years, demonstrating the goals GM has set for the car.
Since the GT2 RS just won the Nordschleife lap record, Chevrolet takes the Z06 very seriously.
2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Spied
Just last Friday, our spies found a test sample of a Corvette Z06 somewhere in the US. And now another one has been arrested.
This time the car is being tested in Germany at the Nürburgring, featuring a quad exhaust system and a large rear spoiler.
While the prototypes may look very similar to the others that were picked up a few days ago, we noticed that their rear bumper looks very different.
The newly discovered Chevy Corvette Z06 2023 appears to have a larger air intake in the corners of the rear bumper, suggesting a more extreme cooling system. That’s not to say last week’s prototype was anything but, as Chevy may have installed pseudo elements to hide the derrière’s original look.
Eagle-eyed readers will notice the newly photographed car has a bit of mascara on the front, exposing the bulk of the bumper design with aero elements and dual air intakes. Canards sticking out of the bumper are visible despite the camouflage, while the air intakes are at least as large as on the regular C8.
As far as their side profiles are concerned, the two cars are pretty much the same, except for the white Corvette Z06 mirror caps that were spotted at the Nürburgring. Both use the same matte black five-spoke alloy wheels and share a beefy rear fender that houses the enlarged air intake.
As you’d expect from a performance version of the already hot mid-engine sports car, the prototype looks glued to the road thanks to a stiffer suspension setup with minimal ground clearance.
We already know the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 will officially launch this fall, but Chevy has remained tight-lipped about the interesting technical specifications of the hotter C8 derivative. We hear it will be powered by an adaptation of the 5.5-liter V8 of the C8.R race car, featuring an aircraft crankshaft like the V8 in the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.
It says redline at 9,000 rpm and makes as much as 617 horsepower (460 kilowatts), but nothing is official at this point.
The upcoming Chevy Corvette Z06 2023 could shed a few pounds as a prototype discovered earlier this year features a magnesium folding body that is typically about a third lighter than traditional die-cast aluminum components.
The Z06 will only be a temporary element of the C8 lineup due to rumors of an Eray variant with a hybrid V8 producing around 650 hp. and four-wheeled vehicles. The crown jewel of the Corvette family is the Zora with around 1,000 electric horsepower.
Meanwhile, the Z06 will be the car of 2023 and could cost around $90,000, which is $25,000 more than the regular Corvette that comes with the Z51 Performance Pack.

2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Revealed!
We’ve taken a look at all the information we’ve previously received about the upcoming Chevy Corvette Z06, the racing version of the latest mid-engined Vette C8. We heard the roar of the engine.

2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Interior
The Bow Tie brand goes above and beyond and ensures that the interior of the mid-engine Corvette cannot be called boring. While the design clearly goes beyond what’s found on every other Chevy model, the square steering wheel and wall of climate control buttons on the center console are unusual elements, to say the least.
However, the cockpit layout is tailored to the driver, and the list of standard and optional features is extensive, including a 12-inch full digital instrument cluster, overhead screen, heated and ventilated seats, and wireless charging.
All of this and more will continue in the new Z06. We expect utility to be seen with the added carbon and micro fiber interior accents and a more durable seat set.
The Corvette leather dashboard is an 8.0-inch touchscreen that supports the Chevy 3 Plus infotainment system. While we’re a little familiar with this particular setup, we find it mostly intuitive and responsive.
We think the Z06 will use the same interface and features, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Additionally, two separate Bose sound systems are expected to be offered: a standard 10-speaker system and an optional 14-speaker setup.
The new Chevy Corvette Z06 2023 will continue to offer a performance data logger to record everything from racing discoveries to leisurely road trips.
And if you dare to leave your Z06 with a valet, a potentially dangerous parking situation will arise.
Inside, don’t expect the Corvette C8 Z06 to stray too far from the C8 Stingray’s cabin. Expect the same overall cockpit design, with some nice Z06 badges and unique touches incorporated into the cabin.
Alternatively, Chevrolet could offer a single radial seat for the Z06 with stronger support than the GT2/Competition hub.
2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Exterior
The exterior will receive a “wide body” design with flared fenders at the front and rear to accommodate larger wheels and tires, larger brakes and a more powerful transmission cooling system.
Additionally, GM Authority is the first to exclusively announce that the relatively large and unique rear wing will be separated from the optional aerodynamic package.
In addition, the C8 Z06 may feature three aerodynamic packages, as follows:
The basic aero package will have no visible splitters, wings or spoilers.
A more aggressive package, defined by the large rear wing (as seen in the photo above) and a few other unique features.
Complete active aerodynamic package capable of installing spoilers and skirts, as needed.
The C8 Z06 is also expected to use various techniques that make the vehicle lighter than the C8 Stingray. This includes lightening some of the body panels. Additionally, carbon fiber wheels will be offered as an option.
Also, it’s possible that the Z8 Z06 will feature a quad exhaust tip from the center of the vehicle. Engineers are testing an out-of-the-way configuration alongside the standard configuration – with the tip at the outer edge of the lower fascia, as seen on the C8 Stingray.
2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Engine
The upcoming 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 will have a custom engine that sounds like the supercar you’re trying to own. The naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 has a flat crank, meaning it has to crank between 8,500 and 9,000 RPM.
The engine is expected to produce over 600 horsepower and the howling of a Ferrari will give you goosebumps. The unique V8 engine will be mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive.
Since our 2020 Chevy Corvette Z06495hp rocket tested the rocket from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and a quarter mile finish in 11.2 seconds at 122 mph, the Z06 will be faster in a straight line.
A wider set of tires, more grip and more powerful brakes will give you faster corners and shorter stops than a regular Vette.
Chevy will also strengthen the frame and calibrate the Chevy Corvette Z06 2023 suspension so that its performance advantages are more clearly visible on the track.
Various active aerodynamic systems that automatically adjust to optimize downforce will join this new generation. We’ll have to wait until we get one to see how much better it is than the upcoming Corvette Z06.

2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 V-8
After years of painstakingly gobbling up every spy photo, creating our own renderings, and gathering tacit preliminary information about the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the track-ready Vette is just around the corner.
Chevy has confirmed a new high-performance Corvette C8 will appear this fall (though it probably won’t be on sale for a while). To raise your anticipation, he’s also released a video of the new Z06 logo set to the sweet and angry music of his new, wildly spinning V-8 engine.
Listen for yourself in the clip above. Anything that stands out? Is that a piercing scream as the V-8 spins higher and higher, never seeming to run out of breath? That, folks, is basically aural proof that the Corvette Z06 is getting a custom V-8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft.
This neat little trick helps the Ferrari V-8 make its way to the moon, while also delivering a distinctive—and exotic— lament.
As we’ve been reporting for some time, the noise you hear in the video above comes from the 5.5-liter V-8 with twin camshafts operating the valves, not the pushrods that have driven the valves in the Corvette forever.
This engine is very similar to the V-8 with the same displacement used by the Corvette C8.R race car, only it will produce more power because it will not be limited by racing regulations to only 500 hp.
In contrast, the Z06 will get more than 600—likely 615 to 625 hp—though the Z06’s torque output is expected to be similar to the C8.R’s 480 lb-ft.
Of course, the stunning new Z06 engine will be paired with a stiffer suspension, unique styling, available carbon fiber wheels and carbon ceramic disc brakes. Sticky tires and extra aerodynamics will also be part of the deal, all aimed at making the C8 Z06 as ready to race as possible.
Along with all this gear, the Z06 will also get a slightly new logo (pictured above) with a fancy “Z” lettering that matches the Z button on the current Corvette steering wheel, which is different from the Z06.
This button activates a one-time custom performance setting, essentially activating a custom-designed transmission, so it’s only fitting that Chevy associate the letter with the Z06 specs and branding.
2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 MPG
Neither Chevy nor the EPA have shown how efficient or ineffective the Corvette Z06 2023 is in the city and on the highway. Since the company’s flat V8 crankshaft is currently only used in the Corvette C8.R race car, we have no government ratings to compare.

2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Price
It is expected that the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 will follow the same price model as the Z06 that came before it. This means customers can spend about $85,000 for the privilege of bringing home one of these machines, or about $25,000 more than a standard stingray.
Of course, the average selling price will no doubt be higher than that, because buyers are loaded with options.
Not very cheap, but the level of performance on offer is expected to be quite high for that price point. The GT2 RS benchmarked by the Z06 brings an MSRP of $293,200 in comparison.
That’s why, since Chevy hasn’t officially launched the new Corvette Z06, we can only speculate on how much it will cost.
Its front-engined predecessor costs around $25,000 more than the base model, so we thought it was safe to add that figure to the starting price of the 2022 Corvette, which starts at around $62,000. This means there will be a Z06 2023. unlocked at around $87,000 when it finally goes on sale.

This delay isn’t too surprising in an era of semiconductor chip shortages and COVID supplier problems, but it’s still disappointing. It’s unclear if this delay will delay the other high-performance Corvette models slated to join the lineup.
