2023 Chevy Equinox is expected to be a carryover from the 2022 Equinox ahead of the new model for 2024.
The 2022 Equinox received a modest facelift that was originally planned for the 2021 model year but was delayed due to shutdowns related to the Covid19 pandemic and the ongoing global microchip shortage. Changes to the Equinox mainly affect the grille and exterior lighting.
The RS model joins the lineup as the sportier-looking Equinox, with a different front-end design from the other models, as well as black exterior panels, 19-inch alloy wheels, and black seats with red accents.
All models now use a 170-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. The previous 2.0-liter turbodiesel and turbo engines were dropped prior to the 2022 facelift. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional.
The 2022 Equinox is available in four trim levels: LS, LT, RS, and the 2023 Chevy Equinox Premier. Expect the 2023 model to continue that lineup.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the Chevy Equinox a Good rating, its highest rating, in most categories. But in a side impact test using a barrier modeled after another SUV hit the vehicle, the Equinox scored a Marginal, one higher than its lowest score. It also lost out on the Top Safety Pick rating that many of its competitors had.
However, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration gave the 2022 Equinox the highest rating, five stars, in overall testing. That should continue for the structurally unchanged 2023 model.
A full redesign for Equinox is expected for the 2024 model. In January, Chevrolet announced an all-electric version of the next-generation Equinox will be available in the fall of 2023. The Equinox EV will be based on the technology used in the Cadillac Lyriq and GMC Hummer EV, although the approximate range is not released.
2023 Chevy Equinox Review
The Chevrolet Equinox 2023 is a compact SUV with seating for five people available in four trim levels. This includes base LS, LT, RS, and Premier. Whatever you choose, however, there’s only one engine option, the 170-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder available in front- or all-wheel-drive formats.
Best fuel mileage with the FWD model at 26 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, or 28 mpg combined.
After undergoing a cosmetic refresh for the 2022 model year, we expect the 2023 Equinox to largely carry over from before. The slimmer front end afforded to the Equinox gives it a sportier look, though dropping this SUV’s optional engine (as in, more powerful) works against the more racing design.
The RS trim is a go-to if you prioritize 19-inch alloy wheels and dark exterior trim. There’s no doubt that the Equinox 2023 is interesting, but it competes in a segment full of worthy rivals. These include the Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester, Ford Escape, and Hyundai Tucson.
At this venerable company, the Equinox doesn’t stand out much – and having an engine gasping for air at highway speeds doesn’t help.
To its credit, the front and 2nd-row seats have plenty of room for people to stretch out and relax. There’s also about 30 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat backrests. The standard 7-inch (8-inch optional) infotainment system shines for its usability and connectivity, with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, audio streaming, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi hot spots all standard.
2023 Chevrolet Equinox EV
General Motors’ Chevy Equinox 2023 is gearing up for its electric vehicle to hit the mass market in 2023.
The automaker on Monday released a teaser video of its planned 2024 Equinox EV, a vehicle that was first announced in January during the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show by GM CEO Mary Barra. It will go on sale in the fall of 2023 with a starting price of around $30,000.
Barra also confirmed plans for an electric version of the larger Chevrolet Blazer crossover during its CES presentation. We already know that the electric Blazer will also have a sporty SS variant. The electric blazer will also be due in 2023.
Equinox 2023 In particular, the Equinox EV features an attractive design, with a thin top light strip at the front and two bottom lights in a closed form that looks like a grille. The flared fenders at the front with wide thighs at the rear give it an athletic stance, and the blunt rear roofline gives it a distinct look from the regular crossover.
It’s unclear how much range the Equinox EV will have, even though it will use GM’s Ultium platform. The Ultium platform and battery are capable of over 400 miles in the right application (depending on vehicle size and battery pack), according to GM.
Given the mass-market nature of Equinox, and its aggressive price point, the Equinox EV might run on a 400-volt Ultium electrical architecture with fast charging capability of up to (and possibly more than) 200 kilowatts.
Ultium battery capacities range from 50-200 kilowatt-hours, with the largest vehicles such as the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Hummer EV running the largest 200-kWh package, while the Cadillac Lyric will launch with the 100-kWh package.
Inside, the Equinox EV will share technology and design with the Silverado EV, including what looks like an 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 17.0-inch center touchscreen. GM’s fantastic Super Cruise limited hands-free driver assistance system could be on the list.

2023 Chevy Equinox Engine
The Chevy Equinox 2023 follows the full model refresh introduced for the 2022 model year, ushering in several important updates and changes, one of the biggest of which is a new powertrain, according to the GM Authority.

The new 1.5L I4 LSD turbocharged petrol engine will be connected to a GM six-speed automatic transmission, the same transmission configuration connected to the current 1.5L I4 LYX turbocharged petrol engine.
As previously discussed by GM Authorities, the Chevy Equinox 2023 will once again be offered with the Midnight Edition package, an optional aesthetic upgrade that was previously offered for the 2021 Chevy Equinox but was later downgraded for the 2022 model year.
For the 2023 model year yet to be revealed, we can expect things like Jet Black interior upholstery, black alloy wheels, black trim, and a black badge.

2023 Chevy Equinox Review
2023 Chevy Equinox The Chevrolet Equinox was supposed to receive the update in 2022, however, due to complications from the coronavirus pandemic, changes have been pushed to the 2023 model, which will be released in the summer of 2023.
Accordingly, Equinox has received a Mid-Cycle Upgrade (MCE), also known as Upgrade, Retrofit, or Rebuild, for the 2022 model year, which includes external, internal, and external upgrades and enhancements.
This model made its official debut at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show with a new look and new RS trim.
We expect the second generation Chevy Equinox 2023 to hit the market starting in the model year 2023. Until then, we expect the current 3rd generation Equinox to receive changes, minor tweaks, updates, and upgrades.
The Chevy Equinox 2023 is one of the most popular compact crossovers out there, but mass consumption doesn’t mean it will cover it all.
Of course, the Chevy has plenty of passenger space, a feature-rich infotainment system, and sporty handling, but it falls short of its predecessors in interior quality and cargo space.
While all-wheel drive is optional, all Equinox models are equipped with the same turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
More expensive trim levels push prices into the high-priced territory, but those who like the bow tie brand and don’t like everyday items will appreciate the Chevy Equinox 2023.

2023 Chevy Equinox Constructed of durable and well-crafted materials, the Equinox cabin should inspire expansive appeal. Front and rear seat passengers should feel comfortable in the spacious interior, with enough luxury to keep them satisfied on longer trips.
The cabin has plenty of cupholders, but most interior luxuries are offered as standard or optional equipment at higher trim levels; The basic Equinox L is the price leader with very few features.
Some competitors offer more space behind the back seats, but we still managed to fit eight of our carry-on luggage back there. Aside from ample center console storage, the 2023 Chevy Equinox’s cabin storage is just average.
The 7.0-inch touchscreen (the 8.0-inch unit is optional) featuring Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment interface atop the dashboard of the 2023 Chevy Equinox system continues to impress with its ease of use and fast response.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as are Bluetooth telephony and audio streaming, USB connectivity, and an auxiliary input jack. Standard 4G LTE onboard Wi-Fi makes Equinox one of the best-connected crossovers.

2023 Chevy Equinox Engine
Underpowered and often out of breath, the turbocharged four-cylinder Equinox won’t leave fans feeling sluggish.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder produces 170 hp, and when combined with the optional (and heavier) all-wheel drive (front-wheel drive comes standard) requires a heavy footprint to propel the Equinox out onto the highway. speed. …
The standard six-speed automatic shifts smoothly and for fuel economy, the transmission doesn’t want to downshift when it needs more power. Comfortable and easy to drive, the Chevy Equinox 2023 handles skillfully and is precise and straightforward.
Driving is bumpy, especially with the optional 19-inch wheels (17 or 18 are standard), and the rougher roads create discomfort for the driver. The Chevy can also tow up to 3,500 pounds if properly equipped.
We expect the new Chevy Equinox 2023 to fuel GM’s VSSF family of vehicles, which will be used in conjunction with GM’s front-wheel drive and crossovers in the future.
GM VSS, or Vehicle Recruitment Strategy, is a new way for GM to design and manufacture cars.
2023 Chevy Equinox Powertrain
Transmission We expect the next Chevy Equinox to have the following transmission line-up:
Gasoline engine:
- Turbocharged I-3 / inline three-cylinder engine (basic)
- Turbocharged I-4 / inline four-cylinder engine (uplevel)
Diesel engine:
- Turbocharged I-4 / inline four-cylinder engine
Transmission:
- New GM 9-speed automatic transmission
2023 Chevy Equinox MPG
The EPA estimates the front-wheel drive Equinox will deliver 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Adding all-wheel drive lowers both ratings by 1 mpg. We ran the Equinox on a real fuel economy test track at 75mph, and with front-wheel drive, it hit 32mpg on the highway; we’ve seen 28 mpg with the all-wheel drive version.
For more information on Equinox fuel savings, visit the EPA website.
2023 Chevy Equinox Price
We expect the Chevrolet Equinox to start at around $27,000 for the entry-level LS trim in FWD format. At the top of the Equinox lineup, the Premier will cost around $32,000 before adding any options. It was competitive with most of Chevy’s major competitors.
While the Chevy Equinox 2023 lineup will add a stylish RS to the top of the list, we still recommend the mid-range LT version. Standard features include chrome exterior trim, an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat, high-intensity discharge headlights, SiriusXM satellite radio, and more.
We also opted for the Confidence and Convenience package, which includes blind-spot monitoring, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power liftgate, rear traffic warning, and remote start.
- LS $27,995
- LT $29.095
- RS $32.295
- Premiere $33.195
We expect the next Chevy Equinox to be priced the same as the current second-generation model, roughly in the $26,000 range.
2023 Chevy Equinox Release Date
We expect the next Chevy Equinox to be assembled by GM Canada at the GM CAMI plant in Ontario for all markets except China. For the Chinese and Australian markets, this vehicle is manufactured by the Shanghai-GM factory by GM China.
The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox is expected to launch next summer. We expect the third-generation Equinox to live on for at least the 2023 and 2024 model years, and the all-new future Chevy Equinox to launch after that.
