New Update 2024 Chevy Equinox EV Compact SUV Review

Posted on

2024 Chevy Equinox will expand its EV lineup in the fall of 2023 to include the Equinox EV, an affordable functional compact SUV that will start with an estimated MSRP of around $30,000 1 in the U.S.

The Equinox EV, which will be launched with fleet and retail versions, including the LT and RS trims, will utilize GM’s Ultium Platform.

“Equinox has always played an important role for Chevrolet as the second highest-selling brand signage,” said Steve Hill, Vice President of Chevrolet. “Providing affordable EV options in the industry’s highest volume segment proves Chevy will make EVs available to everyone.”

The announcement of the Equinox EV comes after Chevy revealed the 2024 Silverado EV and confirmed the Blazer EV SUV, which will be available in the spring of 2023.

Today, the Chevrolet Equinox is a rather forgotten compact SUV. But it won’t be long-Chevrolet launches an EV version with a sleek new design.

Ambitious pricing suggests that Chevrolet is serious about this small electric SUV since its price will start at about $ 30, 000. The 2024 Chevy Equinox EV will use GM’s new Ultium platform for electric vehicles and should offer a range of up to 300 miles to compete with today’s modern electric SUVs.

The 2024 Chevy Equinox EV looks like a completely different vehicle than the 2024 Chevy Equinox that uses gas fuel today, and that’s a good thing. In addition to the grille-free front fascia and narrow headlights, it boasts sculpted body lines and a dramatic wheel design.

The interior also seems to be a big step, with the screen covering most of the dashboard. In the preview photo, Chevrolet showed off one 2024 Equinox EV with a racy black and red interior theme, and another with an attractive gray, black, and blue theme.

The reveal of the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV continues to get all Chevy fans excited for its arrival, and we have details you can look for.

2024 Chevy Equinox

The Chevrolet Equinox compact SUV will spawn an electric variant, which will go on sale in the fall of 2023. The first images of the new model show off the sleek exterior and futuristic interior, which is a far cry from today’s gas-powered Equinox.

Chevy claims that it will have a starting price of around $30,000 and will offer LT and RS trim levels.

The only mechanical detail we have so far is that the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV will use one of GM’s Ultium batteries. There’s no word on battery capacity or estimated driving range, but we think it needs to offer a range of about 300 miles to be competitive in the current EV crossover segment.

The red Equinox EV in these photos looks like an RS model, while the silver vehicle could be an LT or Premier. Both feature large display screens inside, but the RS appears to have different interior trims including red seats and carbon fiber trim.

Look for more details on the upcoming Equinox EV throughout the year as Chevy shares more specs about these upcoming electric additions to its lineup. The company also confirmed that the Blazer EV will arrive in 2023.

2024 Chevy Equinox Refresh

Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular, and Chevrolet is contributing more to the EV segment with its latest truck: the Equinox EV.

The Equinox EV is an all-new electric truck that will join Chevrolet’s lineup in the fall of 2023 as a 2024 model.

The announcement of the Equinox EV comes after the reveal of the Chevrolet Silverado EV for the 2024 model year and the confirmation of the Blazer EV SUV, to arrive on the scene in the spring of 2023.

With the addition of the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV, the brand now has more affordable EV options to choose from. In addition, the affordable equinox EV price options make this electric vehicle accessible to everyone, inaugurating a new era of electric vehicles that we can’t wait to see.

The first reveal of the upcoming EV is in January 2022, which gives us a preview of its futuristic exterior design cues. Later in May, Chevrolet walked us through the interior, which again, was just a simulated version of what was to come.

The manufacturer has further confirmed that the Equinox EV will start with an estimated MSRP of $ 30, 000.

2024 Chevy Equinox EV

The gas-powered Equinox lineup is still in a new look phase, so to speak, having earned a facelift for the 2022 model year. It brings a new grille, updated headlights, and a clearer rear design. It was obvious that it would maintain that look for a few more years.

2024 Chevy Equinox

With that in mind, Chevrolet still has more tricks and manages to give the EV version a bolder and more dominant design.

At first glance, the Equinox EV looks like something you see in futuristic Sci-Fi movies. The EV seems to be very different from its current gas-powered brother. Its outstanding design features narrow headlights and a sleek hood.

In the front fascia, the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV actually lowers the grille and takes the more enclosed front end. To add life to the design of the truck, Chevrolet added a dramatic wheel design and elegant lines that extended throughout the body.

Exclusive Chevy Equinox Platform Ultium GM

It should also be noted that the Equinox EV is powered by GM’s Ultium platform. It is the same platform that forms the basis of the upcoming GMC Hummer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, and Chevy Silverado EV trucks.

Obviously, having these EVs on the same platform means they will mostly have similar shapes. But, on the manufacturing side, the shared base allowed General Motors to quickly organize its electric vehicle lineup without getting entangled in serious development costs for each model.

This is how GM was able to conceptualize (and will soon be producing) multiple EVs simultaneously. So everything makes sense.

The platform opens up the possibility of a higher range, say 400 miles, which may depend on the configuration.

But buyers should expect the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV to offer a more honest and unyielding range to accompany its high-value intentions and appeal.

New Chevy Equinox Design

Browsing the Chevrolet website, we saw something different in the upcoming vehicle section. We were treated to a small but clear side view of the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV, and as far as we can tell, it was just added.

We suspect it’s connected to the debut of the Blazer EV, but after all, it offers a side view we’ve never seen before. Looking around a little, we managed to find a high-resolution version of the image hidden in plain sight. That’s what you see displayed at the top of the article.

Its bright blue shades with white roofs are quite different from the silver, gray, and black rivers that we are used to seeing in the automotive world today.

Indeed, previous renderings of the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV depicted a silver SUV. We’ve also seen renderings of the Equinox RS in red with a black roof, so seeing the third in such a bright color suggests that Chevrolet will offer the Equinox in a variety of flavors.

The 2024 Chevy Equinox offers an outstanding look at the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV style in the profile. In addition, displaying them side by side on chevy’s website (albeit small) also highlights the differences between the two vehicles.

Both use GM’s Ultium platform, but Equinox with its flush door handles looks ready to take on the Tesla Model Y. In the electric vehicle hierarchy at GM, it could be an option for young buyers looking for a more tech-focused experience.

2024 Chevy Equinox Interior

The interior of the Chevrolet Equinox EV has a simple design, with a large infotainment screen in the middle.

2024 Chevy Equinox

The Chevy Equinox EV seems to borrow its interior from the regular LT trim as it lacks the red accents of the 2024 equinox Equinox RS.

Chevrolet only gave us some details about the interior of the EV equinox, but from the photos, we can see a digital dashboard similar to the recently revealed Silverado EV.

It features a style theme and color stitching that reflects the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV Crossover. The rest of the cabin looks like the 2022 equinox.

We also examined the digital instrument cluster that displays the odometer in the middle and the multimedia display on the right. One thing we also note is the odometer reading of 48,211 miles, which may or may not be some kind of code because the EV equinox is a computer-generated vehicle.

The instrument cluster also shows about 235 miles about 3/4 of the payload, meaning that its total range may be above 300 miles.

Chevrolet has not shared any further details about the powertrain, battery design, acceleration, speed, and more. We will update you with more information once all those details are revealed.

2024 Chevy Equinox Release Date

The electric 2024 Chevy Equinox will go on sale in the fall of 2023. According to Chevrolet, the Equinox EV will be launched in late 2023 as a 2024 model.

However, before we welcome the Equinox EV, the brand plans to launch the Blazer EV in the spring of 2023.

2024 Chevy Equinox Price

Although we know the starting price for the Chevrolet Equinox, there is still no price available for the blazer. But, since the Blazer is a much larger SUV, it is estimated to be a bit more expensive than the Equinox EV.
