The 2022 Blazer does not see any changes to the model line, according to the trim level structure used since its introduction for the 2019 model year.

Seeing whether there will be any changes to the package that occur in the first 2022 Chevy Blazer involves the Sound & Technology Package getting the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus system. With Connected Navigation (IOU), which takes over the scrapped IoT units for the 2022 model year.

2022 Chevy Blazer News

The good news is that despite sharing the name with one of the most famous Chevy4x4s, the 2021 Blazer is a casual crossover with exaggerated styling. With an aggressive front end and muscular bodywork, this two-line mid-sizer stands out even more than its various competitors.

The blazer supports its sporty appearance with attractive driving dynamics, especially when it is equipped with the 308 hp V-6 and the RS model’s torque vector all-wheel-drive system.

Inside, there is a spacious rear seat and ample cargo space, but some interior materials are not good and visibility is compromised. Those who want the most desired features and the best driver assistance will have to pay for the most expensive model, which reduces the value of the Chevy over its competitors.

However, buyers looking for a crossover that’s stylish and fun to ride will appreciate what the Blazer 2022 has to offer.

For 2022, the Blazer lineup will benefit from a few minor updates. A Safety Assist package that includes automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam, front pedestrian detection, and lane maintenance assistance is now standard at the 2LT, 3LT, RS and Premier trim levels.

Blazers with V-6 engines and front-wheel drive can now be equipped with a trailering package that allows this configuration to pull up to 4,500 pounds compared to the standard 1,500-pound limit. A range of new paint colors is also now available and includes Pewter, Iron Gray, Cayenne Orange, and Cherry Red.

2022 Chevy Blazer Interior

On the inside, the 2022 Blazer’s design is heavily inspired by the Chevy Camaro, with an intuitive climate control system featuring rounded air vents under the center stack. This vent can be rotated to adjust temperature settings.

Visual developments include soft-touch plastic and a two-tone color scheme. While the fancier model received a more flashy leather surface and materials, our mid-range test car had a few inexpensive parts and most of them were gray.

The blazer also offers the desired content, such as ambient interior lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. The front seats on our test vehicle had small, unsupported cushions, but the rear seats had plenty of stretchable space to make everyone comfortable on long journeys.

With 31 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 64 with the seats folded, we can fit 11 and 26 carry-on cases, respectively. There are several storage solutions for small items, including the edges on the front door panels that are suitable for smartphones.

There’s a decent-sized cubby on the front of the center console, and the bin has good space, albeit without an arrangement. The rear seats are less overwhelming, with a trash can behind the center console and small door pockets.

Each Blazer comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. The system interface is attractive and easy to operate, but a rotary controller will help reduce distractions.

A pair of USB ports located on the front and back of the center console is standard; a 120-volt outlet is also available on selected models. The blazer can also be equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, built-in navigation, and wireless charging for mobile phones.

2022 Chevy Blazer Exterior

On the exterior we see the only changes to the 2022 Blazer’s exterior involve removing the existing three colors and adding four new colors:

New Colour:

  • Pewter Metallic
  • Iron Gray
  • Cayenne oranges
  • Cherry Red Tintcoat

Color removed:

  • Nightfall Gray Metallic
  • Metallic Graphite
  • Cajun Red Tintcoat

2022 Chevy Blazer Engine

Talking about the 2022 engine the Blazer will likely get an upgraded 193-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder, 230-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and an optional 308-hp 3.6-liter V-6. All three are paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, but only the turbo-four and V-6 are available with all-wheel drive.

The front-drive version has enough power for city tours and highway tasks. However, the V-6 delivers impressive acceleration and provides additional confidence when traveling on the highway. As fast as the last Blazer RS we tested was, the automatic transmission was slow to downshift when we wanted fast acceleration.

The four-cylinder model can pull up to 1,500 pounds, while the V-6 version can handle up to 4,500 pounds. With a steady calm and precise steering, the Blazer is easily the ultimate driving crossover for wearing a Chevrolet bow tie. It is confident and responsive on winding roads, especially the RS model, which has exclusive steering and suspension adjustments.

Even so, even the four-cylinder version that we drove was more attractive than many competitors. Its 18-inch wheels provide a smoother and quieter ride than the RS model which uses large 21-inch wheels, which thump on bumpy roads.

Fortunately, both models stay cool on flat surfaces and at road speeds. Steering ‘Precise feedback is satisfying during an energetic yet fluid session at low speed. The fast brake pedals responded immediately to our input, and the brakes brought our Blazer RS test vehicle to a stop from 70 mph in an impressive 165 feet.

2022 Chevy Blazer EPA

We see and predict the EPA that the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder Blazer will get up to 21 mpg city and 27 highway. The Turbo-four has a rating of up to 22 mpg city and 29 highway, and the V-6 version is slightly more thirsty than the two in the city at up to 20 mpg and 27 highway.

The blazer we tested with a base 2.5-liter four-cylinder delivered 26 mpg on our 75 mph highway fuel-efficient route, which simulates real-world mpg and is part of our extensive testing regimen.

The all-wheel-drive V-6 version produced 24 mpg at the same test. However, we haven’t tested the road fuel economy of the turbo-four model.

2022 Chevy Blazer Price and Release Date

We expect the current sixth-generation Blazer 2022 Chevy Blazer to stay in production until the 2025 model year, and that all new models will appear around that time. We also expect a mid-cycle upgrade, otherwise known as MCE or refresh, to take place for the 2022 model year.

While we enjoy the improved handling features of the RS model and a more aggressive exterior styling, it is not the best value. In fact, the Blazer is more expensive than most competitors, especially when chosen with the most desirable features, which are only available in RS and Premier.

Instead, we recommend the 2LT trim level. Not only does this unlock a more powerful V-6 engine and all-wheel-drive options, but the combination can pull 4,500 pounds when equipped with a trailering package.

We’ve also added a Driver Comfort and Confidence package that includes a heated front seat, remote start, power lift doors, and lots of drivers assist technology.

  • L – $ 29,995
  • 1LT – $ 33,495
  • 2LT – $ 34,295
  • RS – $ 41,995
  • Premier – $ 44,195
