2024 Chevy Camaro is one of everyone’s favorite muscle cars, and this time Chevrolet is preparing to welcome something new after more than eight years of presenting the sixth generation Camaro. While we wait for more information, the newest incarnation of one of our favorite muscle cars is getting ready to be slaughtered.
Every 2024 Camaro comes with rear-wheel drive and two body styles: coupe and soft-top convertible. A 335-hp V-6 and a 455-hp V-8 are among the available powertrains. The 650-horsepower Camaro ZL1 is reviewed one by one. Crosstown rivals Ford and Dodge have parted ways, with Ford releasing a new Mustang and Dodge burying its famous Challenger.
Chevy has stated that the Camaro will return at some point, and we anticipate it will contain some sort of electrification. Meanwhile, we’ll enjoy the deafening roar of the pushrod V-8.
The Camaro is gone, just like the old days. The 2024 Chevy Camaro will be discontinued in 2024, according to Chevy. A Collector’s Edition package will be offered on a limited number of RS, SS, and ZL1 Camaros to commemorate its final year. While few specs have been released, the Collector’s Edition package appears to be an appearance package honoring the first-generation Camaro.

The Camaro is gone, just like the old days. The Camaro will be discontinued in 2024, according to Chevy. A Collector’s Edition package will be offered on a limited number of RS, SS, and ZL1 Camaros to commemorate its final year. While few specs have been released, the Collector’s Edition package appears to be an appearance package honoring the first-generation Camaro.
The 2024 Camaro Review as we know it is being discontinued, but there are still reasons to be optimistic about the future. That’s because, now that the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro coupe and convertible are no longer in production (for good), the legendary moniker may return sooner than you think.
Muscle car fans, take note: The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro marks the end of the classic model’s sixth generation. The Collector’s Edition debuted before leaving for good as a gas-powered two-door. The 2024 Camaro special edition, according to Chevy, pays homage to the first-generation model’s original secret designation, the Panther.
The 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition will include prominent front and rear badging, as well as anniversary edition references on the inside. Special wheels can complete the package that will be offered on the RS, SS, and 1LE variants.
This year also saw the end of the base turbo-four engine. This means the 2024 Camaro will only be available in V-6 and V-8 variants.
The real news is that it will compete with a revamped gas-powered Mustang that has more power than the base V8 Camaro and uses a revised version of the current chassis. But don’t forget that the 2024 Chevy Camaro has long had handling and, in some situations, power advantages over similar Mustangs.
However, since 2016, those advantages coupled with the packaging shortcomings of tank-fit visibility and limited passenger and cargo space have pushed some buyers to opt for the Mustang or Challenger.
- It’s a lot of fun to drive.
- 2016 Vehicle of the Year
- V-6 to V-8 supercharged
- A tried-and-true pony vehicle with excellent handling.
- V6 and V8 engines provide strong acceleration.
- The ride is relatively smooth, especially with the adjustable suspension.
- Solid value due to a vast range of standard features
- This Camaro generation will be phased out in 2024.
- New Collector’s Edition set
- The LS variant and its turbocharged four-cylinder engine have been phased out.
What Is New in 2024?
We feel proud that Chevy is preparing to launch the sixth-generation Camaro in 2024. Although this does not mean the end of the Camaro, the sixth generation, which has been on the market since the 2016 model year, will be recognized with a special Collector’s Edition. It will arrive in time for the Camaro’s final year.
Chevy hasn’t detailed what’s included in the Collector’s Edition, but it will be available on the RS and SS variants, as well as a limited number of ZL1 cars. We’re still expecting the final batch of Z/28s before the sixth-generation Camaro assembly line closes.
What we believe
Of course, we’ll miss the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro once it’s gone, so we’ll start with a glass-half-full perspective. The handling of the rear-wheel drive sports car range is excellent, and this is very important. Because that means you don’t need a 650-hp 1LE V-8 to have fun commuting to work, the grocery store, or even the autocross track.
We also enjoyed the 10-speed automatic transmission. This is important because not everyone wants to adjust the gears themselves (although manuals are still available). Chevy transformed their old-school muscle car into a stunning modern sports car that we named the 2016 Car of the Year.
Unfortunately, the 2024 Camaro is hampered by practical shortcomings. There isn’t much room for anything, including you, your passengers, or their belongings. We also wish the convertible top was easier to wear. Anyone who’s ever driven a Mazda Miata knows how easy it is to operate the little drop-top.
Could this casual consideration explain why the Camaro was discontinued while the Mustang got a new-generation two-door muscle car variant? Possible. All we know is that we’ll miss the fun we had with the now nine-year-old sixth-generation Camaro moniker until it returns, perhaps with an all-electric four-door.
2024 Chevy Camaro Updates
If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you might want to take a seat before reading the following depressing news: the 2024 Chevy Camaro, the ninth model year of the current, sixth-generation Camaro, will be the last, as GM discontinues the muscle car, at least for the time being. This is a good time to go over everything new and different about the 2024 Camaro before it is discontinued, which we will do here.
2024 Chevy Camaro Specs
On the mechanical front, the 2024 Chevy Camaro loses the turbo 2.0L LTG engine and the eight-speed automated transmission that it was previously mated to. This combination was the standard powerplant for the LS (Coupe), as well as the 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trims, for the 2023 model year. That implies the 3.6L V6 LGX engine and ten-speed automatic transmission will be standard on 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT grades.
The removal of two accessory-level upgrade packages, the lowering suspension upgrade system (SG3) and the sway bar suspension upgrade system (SC1), rounds out the mechanical alterations.
- MSRP: From $30,900
- Engine: 3.6 L V6, 6.2 L V8
- Horsepower: 335 to 650 hp
- Dimensions: 188-190″ L x 75″ W x 53″ H
- Curb weight: 3,411 to 4,120 lbs
- Bore: 3.7 to 4.1″
Camaro 2024
2024 Chevy Camaro the current sixth-generation 2024 Chevy Camaro is slated to launch in 2023 as the model year 2024 vehicle. To mark its departure the 2024 Chevy Camaro will be offered a special edition “farewell” package.
The as-yet-unnamed special edition “farewell” package for the Chevy Camaro 2024 will probably be called the Heritage Edition and will be offered in various trim levels possibly including the LT LT1 SS and 2024 Camaro Zl1.
The package will also likely be limited to the exterior and interior with no powertrain or suspension changes to the standard model given that development resources have been pulled from the 2024 Chevy Camaro for about two years now.
Thus the rumored upgrade to the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing version of the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 petrol engine making Camaro 2024 Horsepower 668 and 659 pound-feet of torque is highly unlikely. For the record, the 2024 Camaro Zl1 model is equipped with a supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 petrol engine but outputs up to 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
Moreover, rumors that the Chevy Camaro will adopt Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 suspension are also very unlikely. The lack of suspension and powertrain upgrades for the last few model years of the sixth-generation 2024 Chevy Camaro can be attributed to emissions and/or internal validation costs which cannot be justified for the nameplate at this point.
The term of discontinuation for the previous sixth-generation Chevy Camaro is somewhat uncertain as previously discussed by GM Authorities. Development of the seventh generation model has stopped making the sixth generation model the “final” generation for the nameplate at least for now.
Going forward it has now been determined that the sixth-generation Camaro will be discontinued for the 2024 model year. The sixth generation was originally introduced for the 2016 calendar year.
What happened to the legendary nameplate after that timeframe remains uncertain. One possibility is that the 2024 Chevy Camaro will be revived as a new performance EV sedan to coincide with General Motors’ move towards an all-electric future.
2024 Chevy Camaro Platforms
All future GM EVs will be built on the company’s Ultium platform which can be customized to fit any size or style of vehicle. It also supports one to three electric motors so this EV sedan can be anything from a classic rear-end performance car to a 1,000-hp all-wheel-drive superseded.
Chevrolet has given no indication of what route it will take or whether it will offer multiple batteries and motor configurations as GMC is doing now with its new Hummer EV and SUV pickups.
The all-electric performance model is reported as a sedan and effectively replaces the two-door Camaro. It may retain the Camaro name because Chevrolet recently used the Blazer moniker on a crossover that bears no resemblance to the historical model.
Parent company GM is transitioning all of its brands to electric vehicles over the next 13 years including performance models.
The Corvette was already slated to adopt a pure electric and hybrid powertrain in the next few years but the future of the Camaro is unclear once the current generation ends production in 2024 or so.
In presenting its plans for an all-EV future, GM illustrated its Ultium EV platform with an outline of a sports car hovering above. The image bears a striking resemblance to the current profile of the Camaro although Chevrolet has not commented on the similarity.
Reports suggest the car will be a sedan even if it retains the name even though all past Camaros were coupes. Although theoretically, Chevrolet could place any type of body on an Ultium skateboard platform.
2024 Camaro SS
2024 Chevy Camaro SS in EV CGI format which at least is the initial digital opinion of German virtual artist Andras Veres better known as Andras.s.veres on social media who transformed the front of the Blazer SS EV over the body of the next generation Camaro pony/muscle sixth is currently and the pixel master is probably up to something.
Meanwhile, General Motors is on an Ultium collision course with the zero-emissions market after the Chevy Bolt and Bolt EUV efforts were fraught with slow and catastrophic (fiery) sales.
GM knows that all too well which is why they are setting up a trifecta to attack the sustainable EV market the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV.
The Equinox EV 2024 compact crossover SUV and the mid-size high-rider Blazer EV 2024. Notice how each of them has been announced alongside its ICE counterpart and in slightly different styles.
it’s not hard to predict at least not in cyberspace where a technical platform can pull off even the most improbable of tricks that a Chevy corner office manager might want to do the same with today’s underperforming sixth-generation Camaro pony/muscle car.
In any case, at least in some ways, the Camaro EV will be a huge upgrade, especially on the zealous SS trim.
following the logic of this CGI expert who mixes the look of the Blazer SS EV with the body of the modern Camaro and if his thinking takes it to a higher level we can easily assume that under the hood is no longer a 6.2-liter 455-horsepower LT1 V8 engine but a bunch of electric motors which produces up to 557 horsepower and up to 648 lb. ft (879 Nm) of torque.

2024 Chevrolet Camaro Report
Although it hurts us to admit the Chevrolet Camaro we know may not last long in this world.
Rumors have been circulating for some time that the iconic muscle car Chevrolet might be frozen once the current generation goes its way and those rumors escalated this week when new reports started swirling that the last Camaros could arrive for the 2024 model year.
Still, there might be some surprises left for us along the way.
According to this latest report which first reportedly appeared in the form of a private message to the team at Lethal Garage and was later allegedly confirmed by a source who spoke to Muscle Cars & Trucks Chevrolet product planners are currently working on the idea of seeing the sixth generation ‘Maro off with the so-called ” Collector’s Edition.”
According to their sources, the 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition will be mostly an appearance package consisting of a new badge, accent stripes, bodywork adjustments, possibly a vibrant carbon fiber addition, and the obligatory yellow paintwork, perhaps as a tribute to the Bumblebee that helped inspire the current Camarossance in 2007.
Other rumors suggest that the ‘Maros may be able to benefit from performance improvements as well such as a more powerful version of the 2024 Camaro Zl1’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 tuned to around 670 horsepower and 670 lb-ft of torque carbon-ceramic brakes and a new rear wing.
But one variant we weren’t likely to see before the sixth-generation ‘Maro disappeared: the new Camaro Z/28.
According to an anonymous Motor Trend source inside the GM one indeed being worked on appeared to pack a flat-crank C8 Corvette Z06 55 liter V8 and a manual gearbox but that was discontinued.
The closest we’re likely to see is the image at the top of this post released by GM Design’s Instagram page last week with little context but a clear resemblance to the fifth-generation Z/28 that won hearts and minds nearly a decade ago.
Of course, the automotive world’s push towards electrification certainly played a role in the possible extinction of the incipient Camaro as did the 2018 restructuring that was reported in the company looking at alignment priorities but the real fault lies as is often the case with forced-out cars.
Into the sunset with a lack of sales. While the current-generation Camaro is off to a strong start, sales have been marked in recent years as Americans continue to flock to SUVs and trucks rather than coupes and convertibles.
Didn’t help of course: the controversial 2019 model year redesign that saw the Camaro’s handsome face slaughtered so badly that GM was forced to try and walk again with the next redesign.
But if we’ve learned one thing from the automotive world you can’t keep a good nameplate.
Camaro had returned from the previous death and he would likely do it again; indeed it may end up as something like an electric performance crossover but you can bet the 2024 model year won’t be the last time we see the “Camaro” name in a Chevrolet showroom.
Camaro 2024 Interior
Visibility remains an issue, making the Camaro more difficult to handle and park in small spaces than it should be. Surprisingly, the forward and side views are considerably more problematic. The 2024 Chevy Camaro is difficult to maneuver on narrow highways (see that rock wall!) or in tight spaces (watch that shopping cart!). Shorter passengers cannot look over the dashboard.
Camaro 2024 Interior controls are placed unconventionally, resulting in a manageable learning curve. If you don’t get the sunroof, the forward half of the interior feels spacious. People of average height will not have much space in the rear, especially if the driver is tall. In typical performance coupe flair, the back seat is reserved for children only.
The sole modification to the interior of the 2024 Chevy Camaro is the removal of the Black Interior Appearance Package. This package, which comprised a black interior trim kit, door accent trim, and black suede knee pads, was available as a dealer-installed accessory (LPO) on LS (Coupe), 1LT, 2LT, LT1, and 1SS trim levels when it was available.
Technology
The Camaro 2023 features a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An 8.0-inch system is available on middle-tier trims and is standard on the 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1. Every Camaro offers Wi-Fi hotspot capability, while higher models include wireless charging, an 8.0-inch instrument cluster display, and Bose premium audio. We anticipate minor changes in 2024.
In this category, the Camaro is hit-or-miss. The tech features are adequate, and we enjoy the infotainment system’s rapid responses and modern look, although the screen is weirdly situated on the dash. The standard touchscreen is very small, which is one reason to upgrade to the larger one with optional navigation.
Upgrade to higher trims to have rear parking sensors, blind-spot warning, and a rear cross-traffic warning system, which it desperately needs due to its poor rear sight.
Comfort
The base suspension provides a smooth ride. The optional Magnetic Ride Control suspension (V8 only) provides more traction in a range of conditions. Given the Camaro’s goal, the ride quality is excellent. All engines are quiet cruisers, but only the V8 makes a pleasant noise when pushed hard.
The well-shaped front seatbacks provide adequate lateral support without being restrictive, but some may find the bottom cushion too tight. We especially appreciate the well-padded door and center armrests. Even on short rides, the back seat is rather tight. The vents in the climate control center are curiously located in front of the shift lever, where they excel at chilling or heating your fingers when cruising.
Storage
The trunk of the Camaro coupe not only has the smallest volume in the market at 9.1 cubic feet, but it also has a narrow opening and a high liftover height. This explains why tourists who rent Camaro convertibles put their baggage in the rear seat.
There is very little storage space inside. The door pockets and under-armrest bin are both quite small. At the very least, the cupholders are of adequate size and are mostly out of the way while moving. Although the back seat is inconvenient for adults, it does provide additional internal storage.
Cargo Space
There isn’t much space inside the 2024 Chevy Camaro, and it’s significantly less than in a Mustang or Challenger. Front passengers have 43.9 inches of legroom, whereas back passengers have only 29.9 inches. The trunk is quite small, at 9.1/7.3 cubic feet for the coupe/convertible. Compare that to the massive 16.2-cubic-foot cargo hold of the 2023 Challenger.
The interior of the 2024 Chevy Camaro is an improvement over the previous generation, with nicer materials and a more modern appearance. Its comfy front seats and simple layout are strong assets, but its torturously small back seat and poor sight limit its utility as a people carrier. A handy optional head-up display is not available in the Dodge Challenger or Ford Mustang.
The 2024 Chevy Camaro may also be outfitted with customized ambient inside lighting, which adds a cool look. The Chevy outperforms its competitors on the track and in terms of enjoyment to drive, but its back seat is practically worthless for adults. The Camaro is also lacking in cargo room and internal storage. When compared to its competitors, it held the least amount of carry-on bags and had a ridiculously small trunk opening.
Connectivity and infotainment
Every Camaro comes standard with a user-friendly touchscreen that supports Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 software. While the larger 8.0-inch touchscreen covers the space better, the plastic bezel looks cheap and has an uncomfortable downward tilt. Otherwise, its combination of controls and well-organized menus is commendable.
Everything is standard in Chevy’s setup: straightforward controls, appealing menus, rapid feedback, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that can be accessed without inserting a smartphone into a USB connection.
Great thrills at a reasonable price, pure muscle, and a meaningful 1LE track bundle.
2024 Chevy Camaro Exterior
The exterior colors of the 2024 Chevy Camaro are Shadow Gray Metallic (GJI) and Rapid Blue Metallic (GMO). Nitro Yellow Metallic (GCP) and Riptide Blue Metallic (GJV) replace these exterior colors.
The final modification is the removal of the 20-inch Caliente wheels (57V). These wheels were only offered on the 1SS and 2SS grades when they were available.
2024 Chevrolet Camaro Farewell Special-Edition Package
General Motors recently announced that it will be retiring the Chevrolet Camaro in the next few years. GM is working toward a major company-wide transition to electric vehicles hoping to go all-electric by the 2035 model year.
It will remove the 2024 Chevy Camaro but will first ship it with a Camaro farewell special edition package for the 2024 model year.
Although the discontinuation of the Camaro will mark the end of an era sports car enthusiasts can look forward to a new electric muscle car 2024 Camaro Replacement.
Unfortunately, the Camaro is on its way out. That means there will be no redesign for the seventh-generation Camaro. Sports car enthusiasts can rest assured knowing that the sixth-generation Camaro remains available to customers despite GM discontinuing the Alpha platform on which the Camaro is based.
Chevrolet has indicated that it will keep the Camaro coupe and two-door convertible until 2024 when it officially retires.
Keep in mind that GM has a long transition window for electric vehicles so it won’t be completely ditching gas-powered vehicles for now.
Chevrolet plans to release a special edition Farewell package for the 2024 Camaro to retire the Camaro while honoring its enduring legacy. The collector’s edition is expected to be available in various trim levels including the LT LT1 SS and 2024 Camaro Zl1.
But Chevrolet may only release 2,000 units so availability is limited. All indications are that the Camaro will offer 650 horsepower along with its historic muscle. This edition pack is likely to feature interior and exterior design improvements meant to give the Camaro the ultimate in style.
Chevrolet has hinted that the Camaro’s successor will be a “performance” electric sedan meaning Chevy isn’t abandoning muscle cars altogether. The main difference here is that Chevrolet’s four-door performance vehicle will be electric which has a lot of great benefits for the customer.
It is likely the electric sedan will feature GM’s Ultrium battery technology which is currently available in the GMC Hummer EV pickup which has 1,000 horsepower and is compared to the Porsche in speeds of up to 60 mph.
All of this ensures that being electric doesn’t mean sacrificing power or performance.
2024 Chevrolet Camaro EV: Maintains a Muscular Look in Rendering
The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro EV in a media carvibz said that it seems that it will be difficult to find a segment where electrification has a bigger challenge. After all, this American slab is all about strong emotions and V8s so how did you come up with the first part with a battery pack and electric motor?
Well, two of Detroit’s Big Three at least partially answer that question. But unlike Dodge and Ford, Chevrolet didn’t reveal anything about the future of the muscle car genre.
So at least for now, it’s up to digital proposals like this to paint a 2024+ future for the iconic Camaro.
It’s been a few years since rumors of Camaro’s death started circulating. And now only GM has avoided ignoring it but the introduction of questionable styling updates and the lack of a new derivative for the 1967-born nameplate only seems to confirm the grim unofficial chatter.
In fact, the only official detail we can keep as far as the future of the Camaro is concerned comes from a teaser released in 2020.
The image you’ll find at the bottom of the gallery below depicts an EV that looks to resemble the silhouette of the legendary model despite appearing to pack more than two doors.
Of course, this has spawned new rumors suggesting that the current sixth-generation Camaro which has been in production since 2015 will be retired in 2023 and will be replaced with a battery-powered model.
Well, the CGI masterpiece that is on our screen depicts a 2024 Chevy Camaro EV-like though it sticks to the two-door layout that has defined muscle cars for decades.
Digital artist Marouane Bembli (aka The Sketch Monkey) built the 2024 Camaro Zl1 650 hp adopting futuristic elements from the Equinox EV 2024 compact crossover that will hit the market in the fall of next year.
But in the real world, anything is possible for the Camaro. The worst-case scenario involves retirement which could be temporary (remember the 2003-2008 gap between Gen IV and Gen V?).
As for the EV transformation of the nameplate, models such as the 2024 Blazer EV electric crossover that was recently showcased show that GM has not always respected the model’s legacy (the K5 Blazer was once a full-size SUV) as is the case with the GMC Hummer EV.
So a four or five-door battery-electric model bearing the 2024 Chevy Camaro name cannot be ruled out.
But we’d rather see Chevy go head-to-head with Dodge because Dodge will unveil an electric muscle car concept a coupe this year with a production model slated for 2024.
There have also been rumors of internal combustion continuity for the Dodge although the twin-turbo 3.0L Tornado straight-six is said to replace the current V8 raft at least for most models.
There is also an optimistic scenario that this will involve GM following the path that Ford has taken.
So while Blue Oval goes by the Mustang name for its Mach E crossover the automaker is providing the future of internal combustion even though the hybrid for the pony with its seventh iteration of the ‘Stang (here are some leaked pictures of the next-generation Mustang) is expected to debut next year as a 2024 model.
2024 Chevy Camaro Engine Performance and Transmission
The base powertrain is a 335-hp V-6 engine connected to either a six-speed manual or a ten-speed automatic transmission. The ferocious six has its own distinct symphony, but the real power comes from the Camaro’s optional small-block V-8, which produces 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. The optional dual-mode exhaust, which erupts with a piercing bark at startup and thundering sounds during wide-open-throttle blasts, enhances its remarkable low-end torque, linear power delivery, and chest-compressing acceleration. The V-8, like the V-6, is available with a six-speed manual transmission, which maintains the enthusiast’s attitude; a 10-speed automatic transmission is also available. (The six-speed manual transmission is standard on cars that do not have the 1LE package.) The Camaro’s incredible chassis creates a car-and-driver connection (see what we did there?) that is unequaled among pony cars. Its sturdy construction ensures precise handling and a premium feel. Its well-balanced ride is firm enough to be agile on winding roads while remaining compliant on rough terrain. When combined with the 1LE system, the coupes transcend their class, contending with far more expensive sporting gear with prettier labels. The 1LE models are stiff on the track yet easygoing on the road. Their power-steering systems are electrically assisted and have reasonable efforts and very accurate reactions. The hot Chevy completes the performance trifecta with outstanding brakes; the brake pedal gives a continuous progressive and reassuring response. Brembo brakes are more powerful and track-ready on the 1LE variants.
Fuel Economy
This year’s Camaro powertrain lineup is a little different. All variations continue to come standard with RWD and a six-speed manual transmission, but the former entry-level turbocharged inline four-cylinder option has been phased out after 2023, so basic variants now get the powerful six-cylinder.
According to the manufacturer, the engine is a 3.6-liter V-6 with 335 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque, capable of 2024 Camaro Zl1 0-60 mph in 5.2-5.4 seconds. Automatic transmission models have slightly higher fuel efficiency, with V-6 figures of 16-18/26-29 mpg city/highway.
Of course, the V-8 will entice you. The 6.2-liter V8 engine produces 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. This is a version of the V-8 that powers the Corvette, as well as the Silverado and Cadillac Escalade.
We measured a 2019 Camaro equipped with this engine reaching 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, and fuel economy is outstanding given the power level, coming in at 16/24-26 mpg.
The monster ZL1 is the fastest and most powerful Camaro. Chevrolet equips the ZL1 with a 6.2-liter V-8 that is supercharged. Power figures climb to 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, with 0-60 mph times as low as 3.5 seconds. Efficiency statistics of 13-14/20-21 mpg are expectedly low.
Drive
This Camaro is a powerful performer that combines speed, precision, and enjoyment in ways that earlier Camaros did not. The V8 is powerful and our recommendation if you want the complete muscle-car experience, but the V6 and four-cylinder engines are also capable.
Most variants will out-drag a similar Mustang by a little margin, and the brakes are capable of bringing it to a halt quickly.
The smaller and lighter engines provide more precise handling, but the V8 with its stickier tires demonstrates higher limits. The manual transmissions have excellent positive gates, and rev matching provides downshifts that rival those of a professional racer.
2024 Chevy Camaro MPG Real-World
The Camaro V-6 achieves 18 mpg city and 29 highway, while the V-8 achieves 16 mpg city and 26 highway. The Camaro fared admirably on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, which is part of our rigorous testing process.
We tested both of the Camaro’s available engines with the manual transmission, and they all returned 1 mpg (plus or minus) of the government highway numbers. Visit the EPA’s website for more information on the Camaro’s fuel economy.
Camaro ZL1 Garage 56 Edition
Chevrolet is only making 56 of these, a special ZL1 model inspired by NASCAR and Hendrick Motorsport’s unclassified 24 Hours of Le Mans entry in 2023. The 2024 Chevy Camaro Garage 56 Edition look kit includes a Cup Car-styled spoiler, Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar tires, and dive-planes on the front fascia of the 1LE Track Performance kit (which already includes a splitter). Garage 56 decals and new Riptide Blue exterior paint complete the transformation.
2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
With its superb handling, quick steering, and stonking motor, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 proves stereotypes are as good as garbage in a segment full of burbling American muscle. Under the hood is a 650-hp supercharged pushrod V-8 derived from the C7 Corvette Z06. Although rear-wheel drive is standard, the ZL1 and Zanier ZL1 1LE models are available with either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission. While both transmissions are available in a convertible, only the ZL1 coupe is qualified for the 1LE track performance option, which includes an adjustable suspension, extreme performance tires, and carbon fiber goodies—and even deletes the back seats. This is a Camaro on steroids, but it won’t be around for long, since Chevy has declared that manufacture of the legendary muscle car will end in January 2024.
Chevy will phase out the 2024 Chevy Camaro and Camaro ZL1 in 2024, with production ending in January. Before retiring it for good, Chevy will build a 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition ZL1 limited to 350 vehicles.
Panther Black matte paint, black stripes, black 20-inch wheels, and additional graphics to the 2024 Chevy Camaro door badges and steering wheel are all available on the Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition. In addition to the limited-edition Camaro, the valuable ZL1 comes with a Shinola watch. Chevy also has a limited-edition Garage 56 Edition, which celebrates the modified NASCAR Camaro ZL1 Cup Car that raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Only 56 copies will be available, and they will not be available until later this year.
The price of the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 ranges from $75,395 to $81,995, depending on model and options. Our favorite ZL1 is the coupe with the stock manual transmission. While the optional 1LE Extreme Track Performance package for the 650-hp variant is revolutionary and seductive, the ZL1’s too rigid suspension arrangement makes it difficult to live with as an everyday vehicle.
It turns out that 650 horsepower and a ZL1 nameplate do nothing to improve the current-generation Camaro’s poor visibility. It has the same thick roof pillars and high windowsills as the rest of the 2024 Chevy Camaro. Nonetheless, every ZL1 comes well-equipped out of the box. Power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation are standard, as is a heated steering wheel and dual-zone automatic temperature control.
When it comes to the ZL1, performance and style are more important than anything else. As a result, there is little inside storage room for tiny goods. Chevrolet’s almost unspoken acknowledgment that the 2024 Chevy Camaro comfortably seats only two people. Behind the useless rear seats is a nearly equally useless trunk accessible through a strangely shaped aperture.
Chevrolet’s touchscreen infotainment system is one of the easiest to use in the market, with simple menus and huge on-screen controls. It comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. 2024 Camaro Price
The price of the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro ranges from $32,495 to $49,890, depending on model and options.
The SS trim with the optional 1LE Track Performance package is the greatest way to experience the Camaro. It has distinctive exterior elements such as black-painted 20-inch wheels and satin-black exterior highlights, as well as distinctive interior elements such as microsuede trim and more supportive Recaro front seats (SS versions only). The most essential upgrades, however, are those that affect performance. Every 1LE comes standard with a dual-mode exhaust system, improved powertrain cooling components, more powerful brakes, a limited-slip differential, and custom suspension tuning that strikes a Goldilocks balance of not-too-soft, not-too-stiff, but just ideal for track-day activity. While we appreciate that the 1LE package is available on models with four-cylinder and V-6 engines, we’d prefer to couple the greatest chassis hardware with the 1SS trim, which only comes with the hearty V-8. Of course, this selection would correlate with selecting the regular manual transmission.
- 1LT $32,495
- 2LT $34,495
- 3LT $38,495
- LT Collector’s Edition $39,440
- LT1 $40,395
- 1SS $43,895
- LT1 Collector’s Edition $47,385
- 2SS $48,895
- SS Collector’s Edition $49,890
2024 Chevy Camaro Release Date
The Collector’s Edition will be available for buying in the summer, as we see the 2024 Camaro glide through the final model year of this generation. We don’t anticipate a significant price increase for these cars, just enough to ensure that not every 2024 Camaro is a Collector’s Edition. Chevy says the 1LE version will be more limited, which makes sense.
All of the adjustments listed above are standard for a car in its final model year of production. The 2024 Chevy Camaro will be retired before the end of the 2023 calendar year. According to GM Authority, manufacture of the 2024 Camaro Convertible will conclude on November 22nd, while production of the Coupe will end on December 7th, providing for an exceptionally limited production window.
Verdict
Regardless of engine, the Camaro is the best-driving muscle vehicle in its class, outperforming more expensive sports cars in terms of thrills behind the wheel. Its lack of outward visibility and small trunk limit its utility as a daily car. If you can accept these drawbacks, you will be rewarded every time you drive it. If not, the Mustang and Challenger offer comparable thrills with fewer problems.
The final year of the sixth-generation Camaro, which could be the last gas-only Camaro, marks the end of an era. Thank you for sticking with us, we will continue to update more information on the 2024 Camaro will be available soon, so be sure to bookmark the Chevy Models website to get the latest Chevy Camaro news and comprehensive Chevrolet news updates.
