Chevrolet updated the outside and inside of the Burb for 2025, giving it a much more modern look and feel. We don’t expect any modifications to this algorithm for 2026.
2026 Chevy Suburban Reviews
The 2026 Chevrolet Suburban is built on the same platform as the Tahoe SUV and the Silverado 1500 pickup truck, both of which are top-of-the-line cars that can tow and haul equivalent amounts. The Suburban and Tahoe, on the other hand, can fit up to nine people in three rows of seats, which their pickup truck siblings can’t do.
The Suburban is definitely a big SUV. It is about 19 feet long, almost 7 feet broad, and contains 41.5 cubic feet of room behind the third row for cargo. If that’s not big enough, it can tow a medium-sized trailer and even the off-road-ready Z71 variant if you’re feeling particularly daring.
It’s important to remember that the Suburban’s size and power make it hard to drive in the city or even in the suburbs where it gets its name. Make sure to measure carefully before you try to put it in your garage. Parking is a headache. You might feel dumb if you don’t use all that space all the time.

There will be two V-8 engines, but neither one is very efficient. These two flagship engines, on the other hand, give up efficiency in favor of brute power. We would much rather have the Duramax diesel engine, which is smooth and has a lot of torque, than the 5.3- or 6.2-liter V-8s.
Chevy’s changes to the suspension are working, and the ride is smooth. Models with air suspension are even more comfy. The Suburban still shakes over bumps and expansion joints, though, even with the 24-inch wheels that are offered.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, as do a Wi-Fi hotspot and the ability to charge your phone wirelessly. You can get a Bose radio and entertainment system for the back seat.

2026 Chevy Suburban Engine Specs
The basic engine is a 5.3-liter V-8 with 355 hp. If you want more power, you can choose a 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 hp. You may also have a 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine with 305 horsepower, which gives you both power and good gas mileage. All three engines come with a 10-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
You may also add adaptive dampers and an adjustable air suspension to the 2026 Suburban. 2026 Chevy Suburban Performance
We think that all models of the 2026 Chevrolet Suburban will still have a 10-speed automatic transmission. All model levels will include all-wheel drive, but rear-wheel drive will be standard.
The Suburban comes with a 5.3-liter V-8 engine as standard. Our tests of the 2021 Suburban show that it has 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, which lets it go from 0 to 60 mph in around 7.6 seconds.
Chevy is likely to keep providing the 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque as an upgrade. The time it takes to go from 0 to 60 mph is projected to shrink to about 6.3 seconds.
The third choice is the 3.0-liter Duramax turbocharged inline-six diesel engine that is offered. This engine makes 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. As part of the Suburban upgrade, Chevrolet modified this version to add 28 hp and 35 lb-ft of torque. This means that the three-row diesel SUV should be a little faster than the pre-refresh model, which took 8.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h).
2026 Suburban Payload
The Suburban has a 355-hp 5.3-liter V-8 engine and is rear-wheel drive. With the Max Trailering package, it can tow up to 8,300 pounds. The four-wheel-drive diesel Suburban can only tow 7,800 pounds, which is the least amount of any of the models.

A regular 5.3-liter V-8 engine lies under the hood. The Suburban gets 15/20 mpg and can go 476 miles on a tank of gas with this engine and rear-wheel drive (RWD). The 5.3-liter V-8 gets 14/19 mpg and has a range of 448 miles when it has rear-wheel drive (4WD).
The Duramax inline-six diesel engine is the strongest and most efficient engine on the market. The rear-wheel-drive versions get 21/26 mpg and can go 644 miles on a full tank. With 4WD, the numbers change to 20/26 mpg and a range of 616 miles.

Chevy just added a new display to the Suburban for 2025, so we expect this SUV’s technology to continue into 2026. An 11.0-inch driver’s display and a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen are standard across the Suburban lineup. Chevy adds Google Maps navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Despite the Suburban’s large size, the standard 360-degree camera makes maneuvering at low speeds easier. Chevy also offers a digital rearview mirror and a head-up display. You can charge devices with the wireless charging pad in the front or the USB ports available in all rows.
