2024 Chevy Tahoe: New Powerful Full-Size SUV Reviews and Price

Posted on

2024 Chevy Tahoe: The Tahoe is a large SUV that uses a platform derived from GM’s pickup truck. With Tahoe in its fifth generation, the time has come for an update and we’ll likely see the three-row SUV get the same styling updates found on the updated Silverado 1500 debuting in 2022. That means a giant front grille and curved LED details upfront. , all in an attempt to make the Tahoe appear more stocky.

These truck roots give body-on-frame SUVs like the Tahoe a huge advantage over midsize SUVs – most of which are car-based – in terms of towing and overall off-road capability. And in the case of the Tahoe, it still has a decent ride and driving dynamics from a smaller vehicle.

Official information about the 2024 Tahoe is still to come, so we don’t yet know what refresh will be made to the interior tech or any additions under the hood (perhaps a hybrid powertrain?). But with solid bones to build, the new Tahoe has a lot of potential to outperform competitors such as the Ford Expedition, Jeep Wagoneer, and Toyota Sequoia.

2024 Chevy Tahoe Reviews

As far as we can see the full-size Chevrolet Tahoe model has a lot to offer. This is a large SUV that can accommodate up to eight people. The Tahoe, like its larger Suburban sibling, is available with a choice of three powerplants, all available with rear- or four-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The base engine is a smooth 355 hp V-8, with a larger 420 hp V-8 above. The turbocharged Duramax diesel outperforms the two gas V-8s in terms of fuel economy. All Tahoes have three rows of seating, and useful options like large all-terrain tires and an adjustable air suspension enhance the big Chevy’s mobility. The GMC Yukon contains options in a slightly more luxurious shell for buyers who want a slightly different presentation of the best Tahoe equipment.

General Motors is refreshing its full-size SUV lineup for the 2024 model year, and that includes the Chevy Tahoe. Naturally, the refreshed 2024 Chevy Tahoe will introduce a variety of changes and updates over the previous 2023 model year, including revised exterior styling. Now, GM Authority is giving you a refreshed preview of the 2024 Chevy Tahoe with these exclusive renders.

Taking cues from a series of spy photos, as well as Chevy’s latest styling direction, we’ve produced the following renderings.

The first thing you should grab is the all-new front-end style, which incorporates a long, horizontally oriented lighting strip around the top of the fascia. Lighting markings underline the hood and run fender to fender, adding not only a bit of extra illumination and style to the 2024 Chevy Tahoe but also increasing the SUV’s overall visual width. The top light strip also functions as a turn signal and hazard light. The center of the lighting sign is punctuated by a Chevy Bow Tie badge.

Below the lighting signature, we have a set of descending horizontal grille slats, which span the width of the main intake in bold, bold, and polished trim pieces. Lower on the front bumper, we’ve added a large headlamp, which will provide the main front-facing lighting. These headlights complement Chevy’s two-level lighting layout, a design motif that is increasingly common in the brand’s vehicle lineup.

Also of note is the new roof-mounted fin antenna above the driver’s seat, which introduces a slightly revamped design compared to the current fin antenna.

Further updates expected from the 2024 Chevy Tahoe include a revised cabin set up with a new driver instrument cluster and infotainment screen, a layout that will likely resemble that of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST, according to GM Authority coverage published last year and further confirmed. -Recent spy photos.

Expect the refreshed 2024 Chevy Tahoe to start rolling out next November, according to another GM Authority exclusive.

2024 Tahoe Updates

The updated changes that occur for the 2024 Chevy Tahoe model are the fourth model year of the fifth generation SUV, with slight revisions from the previous 2023 model year. But now, we’re taking an in-depth look at the 2024 Chevy Tahoe, including MSRP, powertrain and drivetrain options, packages, paint options, and more.

As reported by GMAuthority media, the 2024 Chevy Tahoe trim level lineup kicks things off, with customers offered a total of six different trims, including LS, LT, Z71, RST, Premier, and the top-level High Country. Prices start at $58,195 for the LS, $63,695 for the LT, $69,295 for the Z71, $66,295 for the RST, $71,295 for the RST, $71,595 for the Premier, and $76,895 for the High Country, all including a $1,995 destination delivery charge.

Rear-wheel drive is standard on almost all model levels, with four-wheel drive available as an option. The only exception is the off-road-oriented Z71, which comes standard with four-wheel drive.

What’s New 2024 Tahoe

Sometimes you just need an old-fashioned American full-size SUV, and the Tahoe fits that role in Chevrolet’s lineup. The Tahoe remains unchanged for 2024, but a revised model is expected in 2025.

Other body-on-frame three-row SUV competitors include the Ford Expedition and Jeep Wagoneer. The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe shares its underpinnings with the GMC Yukon, but both models have characteristics that set them apart.

Except for the new paint color, the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe is a carryover from the previous model year. Chevrolet is introducing Super Cruise hands-free driving technology on the Tahoe for the 2023 model year.

Other styling changes for the 2023 Tahoe include new paint colors such as Silver Sage Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, and Radiant Red Tintcoat. In addition, Chevy provides a black grille with letters that say “Chevrolet” for the LS, LT, RST, and Premier grades.

What We Believe

The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe knows what’s important. The vehicle must be spacious enough to carry a full load of passengers and goods, and strong enough to tow and transport. The Tahoe has the characteristics necessary to fulfill its duties, thanks to its spacious interior, powerful engine lineup, and smooth transmission tuning.

Even though it has many advantages, the Tahoe has significant shortcomings so it cannot dominate its segment. Internal ergonomics are lacking, especially the cluster of hard-to-access controls to the left of the steering wheel. Ride quality is poor overall, especially on lower trims. The Tahoe’s gas engine runs on gas, befitting its full-size SUV image. On the other hand, diesel engines are more efficient.

A solid technology suite and a variety of active safety features round out the Tahoe’s offerings. We like Chevy’s decision to make GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system available starting in the 2023 model year.

The Tahoe offers a wide range of customization across price ranges, from the base LS model to the off-road-certified Z71 trim. Chevy’s full-size SUV is the most versatile and capable ever. When the redesigned Tahoe arrives shortly, it will likely get the further refinements it needs to become the clear segment leader.

New Chevy Tahoe Specs

The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe represents the fourth-year model of the fifth-generation full-size SUV, all of which are new for 2021. As such, Tahoe is expected to see a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year.

In particular, it is possible that a high-performance all-new variant may enter the market for the 2023 model year, and will use a supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 engine.

  • Front-Engined, Longitudinal Layout

  • United States, Canada, Mexico Availability
  • 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe predecessor
  • Successor to the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe

2024 Chevy Tahoe Interior

While it certainly won’t compare to smaller mid-size SUVs, the full-size Tahoe has a large cabin with what feels like acres of space. Three rows of seats are standard, and the second row of seats slides fore and aft to allow adults to sit comfortably when returning.

The Tahoe’s interior package also includes a low, flat load floor thanks to its independent rear suspension; with the second and third seats folded, cargo space increases to 123 cubic feet. We also fit six pieces of luggage under the third row.

While we like that Chevy ditched the conventional column shifter in favor of a push-button and shifter system, the retractable motorized center console cover looks gimmicky, especially since the control switches are on the roof. Fortunately, the rest of the Tahoe’s interior ergonomics aren’t too problematic.

Connectivity and infotainment

2024 Tahoe with features that can make it easier for passengers so that the journey feels more comfortable and enjoyable. This is the commitment from Chevrolet by presenting the Tahoe’s advanced infotainment and connectivity systems to help in this translation.

Every model has a 10.2-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The three-row Chevy includes an optional Bose music system and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch screens located behind the front seats, in addition to plenty of internal charging connections.

Expected Changes, Updates, and New Features

Moving on to the interior, more GM Authority spy shots show us a revamped center-stack infotainment screen, which features larger overall dimensions but retains a floating display.

Additionally, the instrument cluster received a revision, with a thinner tucked-in display reminiscent of the fifth-generation Cadillac Escalade, giving the instrument panel a more modern appearance.

As for what’s under the hood, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe is currently available with three different engine options, including a 5.3L V8 L84 naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 6.2L V8 L87 naturally aspirated petrol engine, and a Duramax 3.0L I6 LM2. turbodiesel.

Looking beneath the body panels, the 2023 Tahoe uses the GM T1 platform, which underpins all of GM’s full-size SUVs. Production takes place at GM’s Arlington plant in Texas.

  • New front and rear fascia
  • Interior improvements
  • New roof-mounted communication antenna fins

Technology

Chevrolet offers the 2024 LS Tahoe base model with an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 4.2-inch driver display. All grades come standard with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. Above the Tahoe LS, all trim levels get a 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and a Bose audio system. The best High Country models come with a head-up display and a 360-degree camera.

2024 Tahoe Exterior

The exterior paint palette includes nine colors, only two of which are available at additional cost. Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (paint code G1W, $995) and Radiant Red Tintcoat (paint code GNT, $495) are two colors that cost extra.

2024 Chevrolet Tahoe RST

Right now, General Motors fans with a taste for crossover SUVs are debating whether or not to abandon ship, given the recent announcements of the Equinox EV and Blazer SS EV 2024. Don’t worry, the upgraded Tahoe remains ICE’s business. At least virtually.

After unveiling the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV and showing off the 2024 Equinox EV crossover SUV, the GM subsidiary was successful. They also said that the Blazer EV 2024 would be coming, but without actually presenting any photos or even a small hint of a teaser. That problem was recently addressed with the 2024 Blazer SS in EV form which was teased on social media.

Unfortunately, people aren’t exactly thrilled to see the battery-powered Super Sport arrive on the market about two years from now. And that’s not necessarily because of the EV switch, but rather the unimpressive treatment given to the current Blazer.

Luckily the SUV enthusiast still owns the mighty Tahoe. and a Suburban if the larger Traverse also doesn’t check the proper full-size box. And, of course, the model will be refreshed soon – sometime in the 2024 model year, according to rumors. But MY has become something of an EV punching bag lately, so people might start worrying about Tahoe’s fate as well.

As far as the virtual artist better known as c_zr1 on social media is concerned, we don’t need to raise the pulse. And the pixel master was quick to give us some CGI thinking in the form of the facelifted 2024 Tahoe full-size SUV. Seen in RST trim and from behind, just to be sure we take a look at the left and right dual exhaust pipes and let out a sigh of relief.

Better yet, CGI mavens promise more POV is coming soon, logically from the front end and interior variations.

2024 Chevy Tahoe SS

Every General Motors SUV lover knows of the family-oriented Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon kinship and the luxurious Cadillac Escalade. And it always provides ideas for some people.

Here’s an interesting fact. Back in December 2019 when General Motors began unveiling its fifth-generation full-size SUV, Chevrolet got its first spotlight on the red carpet. Then, over the next two months, his Tahoe hero was followed by platform brothers GMC Yukon and Caddy Escalade.

However, Cadillac will soon make amends and be the first to present a high-performance flagship version of the Escalade-V challenger. There’s no telling whether Chevy and GMC will get access to the same stuff – what’s rumored to include a Blackwing LT4 6.2L Caddy CT5-V supercharged V8 engine and a ten-speed automatic box (a six-speed manual might be out of the question).

Unfortunately, Chevy fans are still hoping the Tahoe will also get a chance at a sportier show-off based on the recently spied prototype that features full camouflage coverage and distinctive new wheels. Well, that’s a flimsy anchor, but the virtual artist better known as c_zr1 on social media still decided to give us some CGI food for thought.

The story that starts with an unsuspecting set of new wheels is quite extensive. This involves the pixel master wanting to unleash his imagination with the 2024 Tahoe SS (Super Sport trim) and Escalade-V powertrain goodies. Later, the CGI mavens decided this was the right course of action as well as the rumors going around assumed 2024MY would be the ripe moment for Chevy to deliver the much-anticipated Tahoe refresh.

So it’s a perfect excuse to design the unofficial 2024 Tahoe SS with styling elements from high-performance Chevy models (think Camaro, Corvette Z06). On top of that, there’s an updated front fascia to comply with the principles of the new Silverado, plus signature wheels that spy photographers caught on the test, and the digital SUV also has a stealthy 600-plus-horsepower!

2024 Chevy Tahoe: Active Exhaust System

GM will be updating its full-size SUV lineup for the 2024 model year, and that includes the fifth-generation Chevy Tahoe and twelfth-generation Chevy Suburban. Both the 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban will introduce a slew of updates and changes, as GM Authorities have previously discussed. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban will also offer an active exhaust system.

According to GM Authority sources, the refreshed 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban will offer dual active exhaust systems marked with the code RPO NPP. Notably, the same dual active exhaust system will also be introduced on the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. The dual active exhaust system for the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 will only be available with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 petrol engine, and, likely, this will also apply to the updated 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban.

For those readers who may not be aware of it, the dual active exhaust system provides a raspier and more aggressive exhaust tone when desired. The exhaust note may differ depending on the selected driving mode, such as the new Sport mode.

As a reminder, the Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban currently offer a total of three engine options, including a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 petrol engine, with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, a naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 petrol engine. , rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, and the Duramax 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel engine, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All three engines are linked to GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

Looking ahead, the refreshed 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban are expected to introduce new exterior styling, an overhauled cabin with a larger infotainment screen, new technology features, and finally, a new Duramax 3.0L LZ0 turbodiesel engine as a replacement for the current Chevy Tahoe. LM2 Duramax.

2024 Chevy Tahoe Facelift

Chevrolet currently has two design directions for its flagship model – crossover, SUV, and family truck. One centered on the sporty demeanor of separate headlights for the Bolts, Trax, Trailblazer, Equinox, and Blazer. At the same time, the others are a bit more traditional than the larger Equinox, Tahoe, and Suburban models.

But we all know that the General Motors subsidiary has finally kicked off sales of its fleet of 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV zero-emission pickup trucks with the $80k 4WT version, finally leading payload and $40k options stopped dead in its tracks by inflation and its competitors’ audacity to impose a higher MSRP. the higher it is. And what do you think, here comes the Silverado EV which also adopts a discrete headlight look and a front LED light bar to top things off.

Well, don’t worry, it looks like big, bulky body-on-frame truck-based SUVs are following suit, at least according to the rumors. And of course, we’re talking about the upcoming 2024 Tahoe and potentially facelifted 2025 Suburban, which, in the eyes of the imaginative world of digital car content creators, should sport the same Silverado EV design cues and even double down on the LED light bar duties with front and rear elements.

The good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube have a satellite spot dubbed AutoYa Interior, and it’s where all of the Tahoe’s (CGI) action happens – at least as far as the cockpit is concerned. So, after the main channel initially presented an unofficial vision of a 2024 or 2025 refresh for the Big Tahoe SUV, it’s time to meet and discuss the cabin changes – complete with luxury color options and CGI-to-real comparisons between the old and hypothetical new versions.

Anyway, the upcoming Tahoe facelift has already been spied on, and the prototype is only covered in light camouflage – so we already know the focus will be on the fascia that brings out all the hallmarks of this new design. Unsurprisingly, the channel’s resident pixel master also thinks the Silverado EV inspiration will continue in the cabin.

As such, all of the high-tech technical stuff – including a large center display and an all-digital instrument cluster – has been carried over, along with a general styling that breathes a modern air for an older off-road focused SUV. Now, don’t forget to take all of these CGI presentations, as well as rumored information, with a healthy dose of salt because nothing’s official yet.

Chevy Tahoe Engine

The 2024 Tahoe has always been powered by a V-8 engine, and this generation is no exception. The 3.0-liter diesel six-cylinder engine joins the regular 5.3-liter 355 hp block and optional 6.2-liter 420 hp block. Although the oil burner has the least horsepower of the three, it has the same torque as a larger V-8.

Every Tahoe comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive. We put the regular V-8 in an off-road-oriented 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 model, which also features a two-speed transfer case for traditional four-wheel drive, 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain rubber, and underbody protection.

At highway speeds, our example had adequate acceleration, a firm stop pedal, and a very quiet cabin. The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 package also includes air springs (which allow the Tahoe’s ride height to be lowered or raised automatically and manually) and adaptive dampers, which are standard on the top-level Premier and High Country trims. Both the RST and the latter have dazzling 22-inch rims for increased curb appeal.

Capacity for Towing and Payload

The 2024 Chevy Tahoe is powerful enough to replace two vehicles in one package. In addition to seating eight passengers, the Tahoe can tow up to 8,400 pounds, which is about the same as some full-size pickups.

However, this requires a Tahoe with rear-wheel drive and a 5.3-liter V-8 engine. The highest trailer rating for Tahoes is 8300 pounds for the 6.2-liter engine, with the Duramax diesel not far behind at 8200 pounds. Adding four-wheel drive reduces this rating by 200 pounds overall.

Just a reminder, the Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban are currently available with three different engine options, including a naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 petrol engine, a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 petrol engine, and a Duramax turbodiesel 3.0L I6 LM2 petrol engine.

Looking under the body panels, both SUVs use the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at GM Arlington’s Texas plant.

2024 Tahoe Powertrains

Under the hood, the 2024 Chevy Tahoe offers three engine options, including a naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine (355 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, 383 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm), a 6.2L V8 L87 naturally aspirated gasoline engine experience. (420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, 460 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm), and finally, the Duramax turbodiesel 3.0L I6 LM2 engine (277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm, 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm). Each engine choice is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission from GM.

GM’s Super Cruise system (code RPO UKL), which provides the driver with hands-free assistance during long highway trips and costs $2,200, is a standout factory option. Only the Premier and High Country trim levels include Super Cruise. There’s also a Rear Seat Media System (RPO code UW9), which costs $1,995 and is available on all trims except the base-level LS.

2024 Chevy Tahoe MPG

The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe has three available powertrains, unchanged from the previous model year. Every full-size SUV model comes standard with the excellent 10-speed automatic transmission and rear- or all-wheel drive.

The standard 5.3-liter V-8 produces 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The Tahoe has a 0-60 mph time of 7.5 seconds when equipped with this engine. Maximum towing capacity is 8,400 pounds. When equipped with the 5.3-liter V-8 engine, the EPA rates the 2024 Tahoe at 15/20 mpg city/highway.

A 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six is also available as a torque boost and efficiency boost. This engine produces 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy is 21/28 mpg, making it the Tahoe’s most fuel-efficient engine.

The Tahoe’s most powerful engine is a 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. With this option, this full-size SUV accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. The 6.2-liter V-8’s excellent performance comes at a price of 14/18-20 mpg.

On another side, the most fuel-efficient 2024 Tahoe, has a diesel engine that returns 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The regular 5.3-liter V-8 is expected to be more fuel efficient in the city than the optional 6.2-liter V-8, although both are rated at 20 mpg on the highway.

The measured 2024 Tahoe returned a diesel-powered 27 mpg on an interstate route at 75 mph as part of an extensive testing program.

2024 Tahoe Futures

Is the Super Cruise Super?

Super Cruise is GM’s hands-free semi-autonomous driving technology that navigates North American highways using high-precision GPS and video mapping. While it has similar capabilities to Tesla’s Autopilot, we favor Super Cruise because of its confident simulation of human inputs.

Super Cruise acts as a virtual chauffeur, providing smooth and soft acceleration, braking, and steering. When the system reaches a scenario it cannot handle, visual and aural notifications effectively return control to the driver. It should be noted, however, that even when Super Cruise is activated, the driver must be ready to take control of the car at all times and is ultimately accountable for its operation. Super Cruise employs a camera behind the steering wheel that monitors the human driver’s eyes, even at night and through sunglasses, to ensure safe operation. It can also tell if the human driver has returned their hands to the steering wheel, due to capacitive sensors implanted in the steering wheel rim.

Ratings and Features of Safety

The NHTSA awards the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe four stars overall, with four stars in the frontal crash test, five stars in the side impact test, and three stars in the rollover examination. Chevy’s Safety aid suite is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping aid, parking sensors, and automatic highlights. As optional equipment, Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, and a 360-degree camera are available.

2024 Chevy Tahoe Trim

Tahoe trim levels include LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. The High Country variant is elegant and priced similarly to its Cadillac sibling, the Escalade.

The competent Z71 variant is our pick of the 2024 Tahoe lineup. All-wheel drive is standard, as is an electronic limited-slip differential, a blacked-out grille, and black roof rails. It is available with an adaptive suspension with magnetorheological dampers, which substantially improves the ride over the standard setup. The Tahoe Z71 is not only well-equipped but also great for off-roading and carrying people.

2024 Chevy Tahoe Price

The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe Price ranges from $58,195 to $78,895, depending on model and options.

We believe the mid-level RST and Z71 versions offer the best value, with the former being flashier and the latter being adventurer-oriented. The Z71’s basic four-wheel drive, rugged design, and dedicated off-road equipment blew us away.

We’d also swap the base 5.3-liter V-8 engine for the newly available 6.2-liter V-8, which adds 65 horsepower and 77 pound-feet of torque. Our Z71 also had the Z71 Signature package, which offers many desirable features.

Blind-spot monitoring, a heated steering wheel and second-row seats, memory settings, a panoramic sunroof, a folding third row, and upgraded towing equipment are among the features.

  • LS $58,195
  • LT $63,695
  • RST $66,295
  • Z71 $68,295
  • Premier $71,595
  • High Country $78,895
